God how I hate this place!!!!! If faced with the choice between going there or Coco Lounge after spending the night out drinking......I generally went home!

A lot of people have bad things to say about this bar, yet its where everyone goes... I like it, the staff are very good and always upbeat, and if you go on Thursdays, pints are only 1.85! It also has the best beer gardens and even if where you want to sit is roped off, they generally let you sit there anyway if you ask them. Also, like the guy below says, its one of the few place in TW where you don't have to sit in the road to smoke! I recommend it to anyone!

The P&P - distinguised only by its late night opening. Really.

Horrible, gloomy decor that's become incredibly tatty over the years, oversensitive bouncers who think nothing of assaulting their customers (are these guys even licensed?), silly drink prices and, yes, as mentioned above, the heat crowd out in full force.

I do quite like the bar-staff though. Seem a nice enough bunch of kids.

Quite a depressing place for anyone with a hint of self-respect.

Possibly the biggest concentration of "Heat magazine" readers in Tunbridge Wells. And he was saying this, and she was wearing that, and did you hear.......Please God, get a life!

I like how you dont have to stand in the road to smoke!!!

I love it!

I agree- the staff are very entertaining. On Saturday they had some 90s night and they were all dressed up and loving it, and dancing behind the bar. Its a relly nice atmosphere when you have peopl who are enjoying thier night serving you your drinks.

I find the staff to be quite amusing, and always smiling and laughing behind the bar! Which bar;s do fit your criteria?
anonymous - 2 Aug 2007 01:12
Isn't that like saying you'd rather have your left leg amputated rather than your right? I'd have no problem with the prices if they served a quality drink, correctly garnished and with a smile (and maybe appologise for the wait?). Top end prices should pay for a top end product no?
anonymous - 19 Jul 2007 12:35
It is a bit pricey yeah, but theyre open til 3 now and you dont have to pay!
Much rather go here than CHAVINCHIS!

cosmogirl24 - 19 Jul 2007 01:49
Cut and paste bar for a cut and paste crowd. 1/2 an hour to wait for a drink that costs twice as much as any where else in town? Oh yes please!!
anonymous - 18 Jul 2007 11:43
I love the pitcher and piano!!!!! Best place to get drunk ever!
anonymous - 4 Jul 2007 01:03
Although slightly pricey, Pitcher and Piano is always the best place to be on weekends and you dont have to pay to get in. The DJ nights are great and it always has a fun, lively atmosphere.
Stitch up and piano? More like THE BITCHIN PIANO!
cosmogirl24 - 25 Jun 2007 20:12
Stitch up & Piano more like....Ridiculous Prices, The place is usually dirty & smelly. The beer is nothing to write home about, and why you would choose to eat here god only knows. It is home to the dull Aspiring Middle Class type of punter. If you work in Recruitment and you dream of one day owning a BMW you will probably love it here.
dwayne696969 - 20 Feb 2007 13:03
Not impressed. Each time I visit this place seems to get worse. The food is just an assortment of fried goods, the atmosphere is non-existent and the staff are ridiculously cocky considering they work for an upmarket version of wetherspoons. Avoid.

Overpriced, poor beer and poor service.
anonymous - 3 Nov 2006 21:23
Dull. VERY expensive. I was overcharged so told them to which the member of staff replied "well don't f*****g come here again then" - what charmers! It wouldn't be the first time. You go to the bar for the same round and it always costs a different amount.
dribbling_ak - 4 Oct 2006 14:17
Overpriced and full of people who think that they are Gods gift to humanity.

And thats just the staff!
mrse1 - 3 Oct 2006 16:42
posey. bland, boring, no atmosphere, unless you want to kid yourself you are important!

There seems to be the usual bunch of brand haters who nothing good to say about Pitcher and Piano. Personally, I think anyone will find it hard to find such polite and attentive service in any other bar or pub in Tunbridge Wells. If you want agood time, then the Pitcher and Piano is a great place to be. If you want fights, dirty toilets, and flat beer then go to one of Tunnie's many other pubs.
rickyjohn - 15 Apr 2006 17:51
If image is everything to you this is the place to be. Pretentious, over eflated egos abound as most people who frequent this overpriced youth club are only interested in their own reflections. When packed, space is so tight and layout so poorly designed that you are constantly being bumped in to. If there is a hell on earth then the Pitcher and Piano is certainly it.
anonymous - 6 Mar 2006 20:53
Expensive, crowded with people who are more intereste in being seen than having a good time.
Rich_F - 6 Feb 2006 13:16
Having read previous reviews of this place, and being aware of "chav culture", I must say I was a little dissappointed by the reality. I am in no doubt that the ladies and men in Pitcher and Piano are far from "Chavvy", but they are, however, gangs of drunken kids to a large extent, and crammed into a large space with a small serving area, this is not the most fun I have had in my life! Slightly dissappointed.
veryfrank - 10 Jan 2006 10:37
A nice pub although a bit too packed at times. Pricey but as Lala says in another review - keeps the chavs away!
dribbling_ak - 20 Dec 2005 09:47
It is nice to consume an alcoholic beverage on a summer's evening in the beer garden. Picture the scene, the sun sets as one consumes one's third pint of Stella as you stare into the eyes of an attractive well to do lady of Tunbridge Wells. The staff were friendly and the proleteriate were non-existent. A pleasant experience and not a Burberry cap in sight. Bravo.
thealldrinkingeye - 8 Sep 2005 14:12
Yes, it is a bit on the pricey side - however, this is a small price to pay as the prices do keep the scummy chavs away, and as a result there is never that nasty undercurrent of tension you feel in the chav pubs like The Opera House and The Litten Tree, when you just know it is going to kick off at some point because one chav has more Elizabeth Duke cheap tat on than another chav.

This is a nice place to drink, heartilly recommended.
Lalalalalala - 11 Apr 2005 10:47
EXPENSIVE! as everyone says.. but its a nice place to go if you hate the spoon/litten tree...

just wish they would cut the prices..
bilbobaggins - 11 Mar 2005 12:28
it's now closed for refurbishment, but when i did go there (not very often) it was always packed, some of the drinks are quite dear, but the food was reasonable!!good music!! and open til late (12 i believe), so a nice place to go if you want to get one more drink in before you go clubbing in either davs or coco lounge (trust me, you need that extra drink to go there!)all in all it's not bad and hopefully once the refurbisment is complete the place will be even better!the down point about the place is that it's full of sad young men who work at ppp and think they are the greatest thing since sliced bread, i guess that's why you all work at ppp because it's the only place that would take you with your current qualifications!
sophie_r - 24 Feb 2005 12:13
Very very expensive.

medic - 26 Dec 2004 20:01
Very expensive. Full of posers on a friday and saturday night, looking like lost souls. The bar staff seem to be reluctantly working there too, shame as it looks good, but beauty in this case is only skin deep.
David - 2 Aug 2004 11:16
when it opened a couple of years ago, people were queuing for miles to get in, so i avoided it like the plague. however, i did manage to sneak one afternoon and i was the only living soul there! a bit self-conciously chic for me, and very, very expensive.
