please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Shame the reviews are so out of date. Have visited several times recently and there has always been an excellent pint of Harveys Best Bitter available. Very polite and efficient service. Nice to be acknowledged when you walk in.

Paid another visit recently, the girl behind the bar was much freindlier than the woman on our previous visit, but the pub unfortunately continues to only sell London Pride which lets the place down. Otherwise nothing drastically wrong with the place

Probably one of the nicer pubs in Tonbridge Town Centre, but that isn't really saying much! Very nice building and the interior is pleasantly traditional. Let down by having only London Pride on which was awful.

For a town pub its got a nice feel about it Ive been in a few times on Saturday afternoon its certainly one of the better pubs in tonbridge. The only thing not so great was the toilets are a little wiffy and could do with a deep clean.

Nice enough pub and better than anything between in and the station if you ask me. Friendly staff and decent beer.

A nice traditional pub, the beer is ok and the prices are good. A nice selection of late night shots and I love the karaoke on Friday/Saturday night. It gets busy but they have enough staff and I have never seen a fight in there.

Many years ago, this historic pub used to be a dingy place selling so-so Courage beer (but used to have a slot machine that would regularly pay for a whole night out if you started here and went on to other, better, establishments). Not a lot has changed (except the aforesaid slot machine has long gone...).

you know how all pubs really stink after the smoking ban? well this one absolutely reeked of chip fat even when there was the saving grace of secondary smoke to mask it. it must be like walking into a vat of lard nowadays.

I love the staff to pieces but the place really is dead a lot of the time they have a good duke box though and its a good place to have a quiet chat

did not like one little bit, rude staff, bad wine & i'm told by my friend that the lager was putrid
amber21 - 13 Sep 2006 18:32
interesting site the sort i would normally start in but the beers just not up to scratch even close to drinkable would help. shame as it has a lot of character as a pub

much better now than a year back but the DJ is a nightmare. He is the only one I ever heard plead with everyone in the pub to call their other halves to come up...
TrickyG - 27 Jul 2006 13:03
Psh. only thing this pub needs is to lose the DJ mick i think his name is . and then its perfect beautiful paintings and lovely layouts good night.
anonymous - 13 Jun 2006 15:32

theateamfanclub - 30 May 2006 15:46

few people in here bit dear and so so beer though! but first sign that pubwise this is better end of town
beergod - 3 Mar 2006 15:32
No complaints at all, a really nice old pub. The area to the left of the entrance was quite strikingly fitted out with paintings and prints on wooden wall panels plus comfortable furniture. Beer (Taylor's Landlord) was in good nick too. Can't understand the low rating at all.

The rude landlady has left and a new tenant has moved in. Maybe we should all check it out again.
bob_the_bawbag - 19 Jul 2005 23:25
Must agree with everyone.Live in the town and have never met a more abusive, rude, arrogant landlady in my life.A horrible place to visit
anonymous - 9 Jul 2005 11:25
What a place unfriendly abusive management one to be avoided
anonymous - 14 May 2005 10:19
small place, not much room... nah, go to spoons or slug.
bilbobaggins - 11 Mar 2005 12:23
As someone who lives in the town I have to agree with Emma's comments about the landlady - very off putting
Jake75 - 2 Mar 2005 15:03
i went in a few years ago in deepest winter and found myself sitting by a calor gas fire, which reeked fumes. looked so promising from outside. needs a sensitive restorational make-over - like the beau nash in the wells.
richard - 1 Jun 2004 13:03
Very cute place but a terrible place to visit as the landlady is very rude and unwelcoming, especially when she is busy, a comment which is infact shared by many people who live in the town.
