Eh! the place already has a fitted oche - first one I've ever seen in a pub. They also serve Courage Best so the place is a winner for me.

This is one of my locals, the pub has a wide choice of lager and hand pumped ales (which change on a regular basis). All lagers are served from those ice cold pumps, Stella, Kronenbourg, Fosters, Carling, Becks Vier as well as Extra Cold Guiness and Strongbow. Courage best on pump is available as well as a selection of very good hand pumped ales which seem to change every so often, lately the have been Hook Norton Hooky Bitter, Directors, Deuchars amongst others.

Food is served throughout the week until the evening, which is nice and very reasonably priced and normally the landlady does a home cooked special for under a fiver! These normally consist of English traditionals like liver n bacon, beef stew, lamp hotpot as well as lasagne and chilli.

On saturdays traditional pie mash n liquor is served (catering for all the londoners that now live in kent) and Sundays tradional Sunday roast is available, again all at very reasonable prices. Its always busy on sundays!

The main feature of the pub is the lovely pub garden which is very lively if the sun is out! Inside the pub there are two pool tables, three dart boards and fusbal table.Oh and a jukebox

Although this is locals pub I would reccomend a visit to anyone. The staff are friendly, the beer is good and the food is even better....

Spurred on by the previous report of the presence of the wonderful Deuchars, I paid my first visit since the (not so) big (now) guy left to check out the changes. I can confirm the introduction of 2 Real Ales so thats at least 2 steps in the right direction. The standard Ale was off (looked like Courage Best from reversed the pump clip) but the guest beer last night was a most welcome Hooky and of a perfectly drinkable quality. The interior is still rather bland and nothing to write home about with much of the rear taken up by the 2 pool tables and a table football game. The large trophy cabinet is still bulging which suggests they still take things pretty seriously on the games front. The best feature remains the beer garden in which I could happily whittle away a pleasant hour or so now that the beers are back in town. Whilst I have never encountered any problems here, some of the customer base can be a bit on the raucous side and not of a particularly endearing nature.

Situated next to a Wicks DIY store, The Rose is one for the locals certainly, but friendly enough on my evening visit last Monday (20th Jan). Famed by (former Landlord), darts ace Andy Forman, it was not surprising that a couple of dartboards featured. In fact, the several conversations I over heard all seemed to be relate to the sport. A couple of pool tables were present, in an otherwise, rather bare pub. There is however, a large enough beer garden and patio. Two ales were pleasingly on offer, Deuchers IPA and a guest. Not an outstanding pub by any means, yet one that serves its regulars well.

Bland in the extreme. I would imagine that the vast majority of punters who come here, come to see the larger than life landlord Andy Fordham. Sadly, this would seem to point out that the pub is crap.

The presence of the big fella and his darts trophies cannot disguise the fact that this is a rather dull and ordinary pub, even by Dartfords standards. If you want to hang out with the boys, watch football, play pool and exercise your limited vocabulary, the Rose will be right up your street. No great choice at the bar standard lagers and keg bitters make a rather unimaginative selection. The only redeeming feature is the decent sized and well kept beer garden. The boss may be a big hitter at the dartboard but the pub doesnt score too many bullseyes.

I visited the Rose last evening for a swift one before a gig at the Mick Jagger Center. The Viking himself was there. There appears to be some refurbishent or new build happening at the back so the pub's a bit short on space at the moment.

But there's no real ale currently (Courage Best on pressure) and it's a bit of a walk from the station, but there is a pay and display car park right by it which is free from 6:30pm.

SO I'm giving it a lower score for this visit with the expectation that it will improve once the work is complete.

I'll give it 10/10 too. Went there on my way to Kent and enjoyed it. No sign of 'The Viking' but a lovely atmosphere and a gorgeous pint of Courage Best too. Lovely. I am 21 years old, my early memories of Saint and Greavsie and DLT conjure up the sort of pub atmosphere you want (That sort of era) and this is the best one for that lovely atmos. Keep up the good work Champ!!!!

What a great juicer! As you would expect from the darts world champion, two very well appointed darts boards, plus a pool table, really well kept beer, a Burger King within 5 minutes walk, not forgetting the well stocked jukebox and even the Irish Social club opposite, in a tasteful Nissan Hut. Quality. Totally worth a day out!
Came down to see "The Viking" and perhaps play a couple of legs with the "people's favourite" whilst nailing a few pints. Unfortunately, due to a nasty injury (pulled muscle at the top of the ribs, just below the heart) the world darts champion was unable to throw. So, instead he only gets on the chalk to score our final of the round robin, winner takes all leg!!!! The big man was having second thoughts about his generosity as we started off with 7 and 16 respectively - and it got no better as we struggled to hit the board. So, 35 minutes later as we settle on "nearest the bull"......

I don't know anything about this pub, but I have read that it is run by Darts world champ Andy Fordham. Could be worth a visit........
