Appears to now be Club 21, a nightclub, when I ran past on Saturday.

one of very few good places in Alty, a little bit on the small side, but pleasent enough for a good booze up, I wouldnt bother going in before 12.30am though!

The food here is terrible, the service is good though. I used to come here quite often when it was Clarins and had just opened, the piano playing and live music at the weekends was fantastic, as a restaurant it was really good value in that it served up really good food. It's such a shame they have decided to turn it into a burger joint - it used to be such a nice bar/restaurant with proper food, not this frozen tasteless rubbish. The floor looked like it hadn't seen a mop for a while.

Seemed ok if taking the misses out. Would only ever drink here occaisionally though-as a change of scenery. Really pricey. Definatly aimed at the more well off folk in the area. (Especially those from neighbouring 'posh spots' of Hale and Bowden.) Good place to go if your aiming for a bit of class (not over the top class, just a bit more than your regular establishments) Didn't seem to have much in the way of atmosphere. Unfortuanatly, close by the old Downs pub. (Now Nicolsons-hopefully this change will make location better than b4) Also opposite weatherspoons (the Unicorn) good idea to have a few cheaper drinks in here first b4 moving on for a wallet sting at Clarins!

The fixed price menu in here is good, so take the missus out for a decent meal and you'll end up spending less than 16 each including drinks - until 7pm if memory serves. Still wouldn't go here just for a drink though after my last experience of paying with switch, see below.

I'm demoting this one in my books.

1) They have stopped accepting payment by switch/maestro. Most places take debit cards even small pubs, well they lost another 10 worth of business with that one. Again - bad business sense.

2) There were some shady types hanging around there a few weeks ago, they gave the impression they owned it, that put me off spending any more money there.

have to agree with chris, this is milf heaven and posh milf at that so they may even buy you a drink. Bored housewifes galore!!

Loads of MILF in here on Fridays and Saturday nights. Excellent.

Fantastic piano bar with table service. Very dimly lit excellent for a romantic meal or just a few drinks. Live piano on Thurs(?), Fri and Sat evenings.

Bit pricier that other hostelries but then you don't get a grand piano and and excellent table service in others do you? Turn up smart and you'll be let in. Definitely no scallies allowed beyond the door! Despite the Downs being just over the road.

Well worth a visit with the missus if you want to get in her good books! It never gets too busy, very gentrified.
