Interesting last comment , how are they going to pay for this redevelopment with only one customer in most times ?

I heard this pub has been taken over and the new owner is planning on a complete refurbishment to the place. All i can say is about time too!!!
Good luck Railway

Not bad. Can be intimidating at times. Can get very sardine like on Karaoke night but worth it for the laugh at the bad ones and the enjoyment and admiration at some of the great singers like the lady who sings The Bitch is Back and the girl (who should be on the X factor or something) who sings River Deep, believe thats a good night out. The beer is not bad either.

this pub has come to be a better venue,to drink in since i last visited. New things going on and a good crowd of friendly faces whenever i visit.Karaoke, always a good night. As for anyone watching, it's always good to know that someone is switched on to what's going on around.

free pool and low stakes poker on tuesdays and thursdays, karaoke and well kept beer, started doing food again, cant beat the atmosphere in there on a good night. Colin and Paula are doing well if they are still bringing in the customers. well done and keep it going.

amazing pub! got to be the best in saltash by far. people on karaoke aint tht good though! it is a good night though! only bad thing bout it is the lesbian that follows you around!
leedsandcha - 23 Oct 2007 14:19
Not bad, free pool every so often and a well kept pint. This doesn't detract from the atmosphere can at times be very intimidating.

although paula & colin are very nice & there are some very nice people in there, this certainly is not the best pub in saltash.

excuse me chavvy, brubs name one of the clientelle that is chavvy in that place? Dude or dudette you seriously need to come down when the place is busy and see for yourself that if you want the pub chav capital in saltash you go to the brunel, not the railway. dude or dudette you need to get your facts right before you post them. remember that this is one of the best pubs in saltash at the present moment so enjoy and kickback and peace to all who want it.
monkeyboy1 - 15 Sep 2006 04:25
This place is a bit chavvy as you can often hear the strains of karaoke and Neil Diamond impersonators blasting out the closed windows. Too many sovereigns for my tastes.

i disagree gary the barman is not any of the things listed in the below reviews, just ask the regulars or the other members of staff or at a stretch the landlord or even the landlady. the atmosphere on a sunday is second to none on the evening for the karaoke. so come and see for yourself and maybe you will enjoy it and come again. don't forget the bed and breakfast thats good too
masterofmayhem - 25 Feb 2006 19:08
lovely pub nice atmosphere, bar staff apart from gary very friendly and a very approachable landlord and landlady and the sunday karoake just happen to be the best well worth staying out late for

A strange one. An inbred kinda pub, full of alcoholics and weirdos, but that could be the attraction!!
froggy - 7 Jan 2006 17:20
Not a bad pub. The owners are really nice, but must admit I prefer the two bridges.
Kernow21 - 26 Aug 2005 11:25
Didnt really like this pub,the staff seemed to be following everywhere would of been nice to see some smiles now and again.nice place to go after work for a quiet drink.
ickle - 19 Aug 2005 13:53
not a bad place , must admit new owners/managers doing great job. great pool table too !!
only downfall is the staff ive seen more smiles at a wake , n the barman gary geesh talk about obnoxious, not too mention loud n opinionated, defo puts me off going in too often, but as for the rest, its defo worth a try , prefer the brunel personally but can get bit too bizzy !

IT IS A WONDERFUL PLACE TO GO THE OWNERS ARE REALLY NICE HAS GOT BETTER SINCE THE LAST OWNERS
chaz0808 - 5 Feb 2005 18:31
Good pool table, staff can be a bit weird though. Full of alcoholics though. Jukebox is rubbish.

Again, a pub to visit every now and again, The Two Bridges far outstrips it, and is just down the road.

This pub is nothing more than hostile. I feel unwelcome and a victim of stereotyping (youth). The watchful glare of the bar staff and dislike for non-hardcore locals is quite offputting. I will not say a word against the beer, it is up there with the best kept pints in saltash. But it loses marks in my book for a slightly cold atmos.
cecilarms - 1 Dec 2004 21:51
I like this pub as a afternoon drinking pub, the evenings attract some nice people, but most of the others are just far to drunk, to early, and can have the tendency to provoke or offend. Not a bad pint mind, and the owners are nice.
