It just gets worse, definatley not a live music venue. These guys don't know what they are doing.

Nicely decorated , shame about the quality of beer and exhorbitant charges. Popped in on friday for 'live music'. I won't be coming back- charged 6 entry and the bands were awful. Hardly anyone there too......

Dave84, I couldn't agree more. I (ashamed to admit) got the bus to Wimbledon and was appalled to see so many middle class people under 30 enjoying themselves. Visiting the toilets I was shocked to find absolutely no raw silk toilet paper for my fragile piles. I stormed out past the coloured doormen, into my company mini to make sure I was at Foxtons for my 9am start. So glad I live in the epicentre of modern culture that is Clapham.

was looking forward to this venue but was greatly disappointed as the drinks service was slow and none attentive and the door security were rude and abrupe and offered no customer care very poor management is the cuase i feel

Looks like no-ones reveiwed this place for a while - perhaps because no-one goes there?? After being extortiatly overcharged to get in i then waited 15mins to get served (how does that work when the place wasnt even half full!!) before being eyed up by a group of,what looked like, 16 and 17yr olds (over 20`s my ar*e). After visitng the toilet and finding everyone "powdering their noses" i decided it wasnt the place for me!! definantly worth the taxi ride back to clapham.

I had a great night down there this weekend. We were given a 2for1 voucher at the door as it was my birthday and got some lychee martinis and 4 bottles of champagne and then we were given this again for free. The music was great and the dj really made my night

The girl bellow must go to Edwards when I dont I went there the other Thursday and there was nothing but Chavs dancing in unison thinking they were in some RnB band I was almost sick with laughter but each to there own

Went here recently for a birthday thing with 10 mates.

First off the door policy is a pile of cr*p! Non existent. The club was full of chavs in baseball caps, Nike trainers and Burberry! We got there at 10.30 and already there was sick all over the floor in the ladies and everyone was hammered.

The staff got stroppy when we presented our buy one get one free drinks voucher and it was crammed to a point of annoying. The music is funky but there are lots of people in there just looking for a fight. Stroppy guys, bitchy girls and the whole night was a disappointment.

We left at 12 and that was too long. Smelt, felt and looked like a student union. Not at all like the pics on the website. Dont bother. Better night to be had in Edwards or The Bar down the road if it re opens. Failing that pay the extra and go to Clapham.

seems to have gone a bit upmarket form the last time i was in there... nice to know they cleared all the blood up... it was a right hole before now.....

Dave, I really like this club "because" of its door policy!

My friends and I dont like to feel threatened when we go out for a night out. Although we are always looking for at least one man, we do not like big groups of guys chaving it up and ogling us.

Anyway if you fancy meeting in the shed one night then team up with some ladies and i will see you there

I love it X

Found out about this club on this website, organised my birthday party in there, had a fabulous time! There were no issues with service, music, prices. Saturday evening, small room - good Disco tunes! A bit of an underground feel to it - great atmosphere and happy people! Will definitely go again!

What the post below meant to say was that drinks are really amazing value earlier in the evening. And there are special offers on Friday and Saturday 9 to 10.30pm - Smirnoff Ice at 1.80 cannot go on all night, we have to pay for our fantastic DJs and staff!
SimonJones - 22 Jun 2006 15:33
I haven't been there before but The Franks are playing there on Thursday 23rd March, if your local make a trip the down, they are well worth it. I'll update you after I find out about the service / door staff.

Door Policy? Think they make it up as they go along. As for the drinks policy.... be aware that the drinks prices increase as the evening goes on. I suppose in the hope you get too drunk to notice. We bought about 8 rounds all the same and no two rounds cost the same price. Music is good and there is loads of room to dance. I am sure if they sorted out the pricing issues this would be a much better night out.

Anonymous below had too many drinks before arriving. The maximum charge to get in is 8, never 12. The cloakroom is 1 not 8. You can put all your stuff in one bag in the cloakroom but there is a sign asking you not to leave purses or valuables in them. We have CCTV in the cloakroom to keep them safe anyway. None of our staff would keep their jobs if they poured away peoples drinks in front of the Manager. Are you sure you got the right club?
SimonJones - 28 Oct 2005 18:06
Door policy still baffling, but still the queues build!! Have been on numerous occasions, definite more fun after a few beers. Never had a problem with service, or cost of beer in there and the music in the 2 rooms is tops. A great way to end a night out.
anonymous - 24 Oct 2005 22:52
The door policy is terrible and it gets worse. We were asked to queue and was told it was 6 to get in. After 10 mins we were let in and charged 12 cos apparantley the door staff can't tell the time. Then the girls wanted to put purses / scarves etc inside one girls larger bag, and were told they couldn't had to check each item seperatley (cost 8 to check items!). Staff were rude. Then after not getting served for ages, complained to manager who arranged a free drink, however the barman who was rude just walked up (in front of manager) and poured them all down sink saying "those b**ches don't deserve 'em"

Never going back

I hav to say I never really ventured down this end of Wimbledon, but took a trip down on a Thursday and was shocked to find a live music night. They hold comedy in the back room on the weekends but it is really geared for live music, and it didn't dissapoint. There were 3 bands on who were all very good and the Dj in the front room was okay as well. The clincher for me was that all the drinks were 1.50, and consequently the place was packed with loads of attractive student types. Fantastic, definately recommend this place on a Thursday!

I was here may years ago and recall that it was a good laugh and I'm sure it remains so today. However, as the previous posts reflect, there was the age old problem for single men in South London - no women, or at least 1 woman to every 4 men. This is true of all South London suburbs with the exception of certain pockets of Clapham. Take my advice guys - get up to North London for a night out. No queues, loads of late venues, loads of women. I'm letting this particular cat out of the bag as I am now married.

Understand everyones comments about the door policy BUT there is a very good reason why. If you go to Ponana up the road there is at least 3 guys for every girl. This not only causes problems for girls - being hounded by every bloke in the place - but results in fights. By keeping numbers balanced this doesn't happen

We came down for the comedy on a Friday, not knowing that you got entrance to the club afterwards for free. Comedy acts were super- much better than most of the so called 'established' comedy clubs. Crowd were really up for a good time, which helped.
After the show the club got going and by 11pm it was pretty much full. We had a mixed group from 21 to 35 and it was great that they had 2 rooms so everybody had stuff to listen to. Apparently there was a queue until 1.30am, but they never let it get so full that you had to wait ages to get served. Crowd had definitely come to party and when we staggered out at 2.30 there were still plenty of good looking guys and girls. Would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a fun night out!

Kay's post sums up the some of the most ludicrous door policies in London. What happened to pubs/night clubs as places to go,have a fun night out and meet some ladies?
This place would be more honest if it had a sign up advising would-be patrons that admittance only possible with a member of the opposite sex instead of wasting peoples time queuing.Last time I went my friend was asked his age (he was 29 at the time)and then told us to find partners to come in with.
Cue 2 forty-something yummy mummies on a nostalgia night out getting out of a taxi. Meet our new girlfriends and entry no problem even though this was conducted in open view of the door staff.
Ridiculous.
Paul - 28 Jun 2004 17:46
having heard this was a great night out, arranged a big group of old friends to hook up there last night. friends came from all corners of london, some from outside. A lot of people mysteriously did not turn up....they were not allowed in as they did not have girlfriends!!! when we left there was a queue down the road and I heard people who had been in the queue for hours being turned away as they were single. What the hell is that about. If they all had girlfriends, wouldn't they be at home getting some???? Ruined what was hoped to be a great reunion - thanks

Kay - 27 Jun 2004 12:54
i heard it's a good place, but the one time i went it was dead so i can't really comment. nice set up if you're absolutely shitfaced
Joel - 24 Jun 2004 05:07
Many a great night out here. Fun music, good looking people (important!), good drink selection and open till 2.30... what more do you want from a night out!
Sarah - 9 Feb 2004 14:59
Really good comedy on a friday. Great music selection and a friendly crowd. Worth going in a large group to celebrate a birthday or in smaller numbers if on the pull. Lots of attractive men which is unheard of in Wimbledon. Major plus is that there is a cab office next door so you don't need to get murdered on the way home.
modelmorgan - 9 Feb 2004 14:51
A great Friday night out...a comedy night followed by an evening of dancing - two rooms so even if there is a big group of you all tastes are satisfied! Bargainous as the ticket price covers both.....no need to venture out into the cold to find that next venue!!
clow - 9 Feb 2004 13:30
It's only good if you have had a skinful, want some more after the regular pubs turn out.
Price has increased to 8 - which is a bit much! Shuts at 2.30am.. so when there is no where else to go.. u get your last tenner out. Music often decent though.
JP - 29 Jan 2004 17:36
Pub?? This is a nightclub or thinks it is. Went here between Xmas and New Year and was full of top sorts, much to my surprise. Something to oggle at while dancing with missus. Beers no expensive either and plenty of room to strut your stuff.
Corr - 11 Jan 2004 02:27
2 rooms and a good selection of beer and shorts don't conceal this place's shortcomings.Eg the door policy.Q "How old are you Answer:I'm 29.In that case you'll need to find a woman to come in with.Having found a complete stranger within eyesight of the doorman then allowed in.Totally baffling but a decent night out once inside.
