Still an Indian restaurant.

This pub was turned into an Indian restaurant back in March 2009.

Been in this pub a handful of times - tends to be smelly, smokey and not very friendly at all. I know Weatherspoons are meant to be more of the budget-type pubs but this is a let down.

The Standard Bearer was the last pub to receive its licence
in 1999. It could have been a good family pub in an area
of east London which badly needs one !. However, with
indifferent service from the staff and poor levels of hygiene
not to Mention the odd visit from the police the pub has
never been run as it should have been. The cheep beer
prices attracted to much of the local "pond life" which
should have been turned away by the manager.
This pub will be missed by the locals who supported
the Standard Bearer but where put off by the ever Decreasing
standards mentioned above.

Another awful Wetherspoons.

Beer, from the pumtps no matter what brand has a strange flat taste.

Service is almost non existent, as all staff seem visibly irritated by the customers, and painfully slow.

Food is bland.

Finally the place always seems dirty, with leftover plates and glasses on nearly every table.

A pub with nothing to recommend it.

This is my local pub and to be brutally honest its not the most atmospheric of places. The service behind the bar can be a little slow even with three people behind it. But to be fair food orders do slow things down. My worst complaint has to be how dirty it is. Glasses rarely cleared from tables and I am sure only the cleaners at night wipe down the tables coz the staff definitely don't. Also the general state of the place has become a bit grotty... stained chairs, dirty old carpet.... On the plus side it a wetherspoon pub so its cheap and it selection of beer is pretty good I also hear it will be closing soon? I am a bit surprised because for all Ive said it is pretty popular. But then again OGradys Bar is close by and a lot nicer pub... Especially if you enjoy good pint of guinness and lively atmosphere!

Wetherspoons - the usual plop. Though the selection of bottled beer is now quite appealing.

Strangely compact for a 'Spoons, very claustrophobic.

Not a bad pub, but the service leaves a lot to be desired. The pub is reputed to have an actual licensee, although no one has seen him or her in years. Maybe they will turn up one day. The other manager who I believe is called Jamie, is a typical Essex Chav who seems to call everyone "Geez" or "Bruv". Maybe he thinks himself as a bit of a wideboy. Personally I prefer "Sir" when being addressed by a member of barstaff not a common Essex term.

the beer is good and the staff are friendly. Food is ok but the tables are often littered with glasses and empty plates.
