Excellent pie and chips, stroganoff could've done with a bit more rice though!! Great pub for Sunday lunch though, ales not sampled but plenty of locals enjoying a Sunday pint or five. Busy in the car park, with plenty of tw4ts parking 4x4 across two spaces...!

Went here on Monday evening to meet up with a group of friends. Very nice pint of KT20 though Fullers and Youngs was available. Friendly competent staff and the burger I ordered was well cooked and tasty. Would certainly go again.

Located on the Dorking Road in Tadworth. A large car park wraps itself around the pub with the beer garden, which is partly covered in the middle. The bar is along the length of the pub on the left. It has 6 real ales including one special for the pub. The lounge which curves around the bar is well laid out and comfortable. It was doing a good trade on food but I wasn't eating so I can't comment on the quality.

I read tacky s review before I went to the Dukes Head with my Daughter and family, and would like to say that we had a perfect evening, the choice of drinks is very good, especially the beer, food was good and the staff friendly, I did have to ask for something to be changed, and this was done without fuss, and to my surprise was also taken off the bill, so I have no complaints, only praise, I think if tacky who wrote the review below had done the same I'm sure he would have been a lot happier, instead of letting it fester for 3 weeks before remembering to write his review.

The food was one of the worst I've ever had, although staff was nice and beer was ok. We ordered a beef burger and a steak pie for lunch on 19 Nov 2011. The burger bun had strange burns, stone-hard surface and was very dry inside, all typical of badly defrosted food by microwave. The beef pate was again hard and dry, and broken inside the mouth like a biscuit. The pie pastry was as bad as the bun, and the blocks of steak inside tasted worse than canned corned beef. Steamed veg and chips also appeared frozen, so the only fresh ingredients were new potatos and salad, which were good. All others must have been low-quality ready-made supplies, frozen possibly for months before being defrosted quite unskillfully. I would not complain if I visited a pub randomly and was just served frozen food there. However, if it was of appalling quality even by the standard of pub food, I need to mention. At least they should remove their big sign outside boasting 'fresh food served all day'.

Went to this pub randomly and find out how good it really is, my husband and I had a 3 course meal and we were very pleased with all of it, although there were only a few 4 tables available (all reserved), we did enjoy our evening, my husband loved the ale's selections and we'll definitely come back!

We had our wedding reception at The Dukes Head and could not have asked for better. EVERY guest said the food was amazing and the service excellent, the staff worked so hard and the landlady,Wendy is an absolute star!!
We were lucky with the weather so the lovely garden was used by everyone, and as one guest said they'd never been to a more "relaxed and chilled wedding" and this was all down to the great service and ambiance.
If you require a venue or just a very nice afternoon/evening meal then this is the place!!

We recently held our wedding reception in the Dukes Head after the landlady agreed for us to have it exclusively for the evening. The Duke was able to accommodate a hog roast and a live band and the staff, service and ambience of the whole evening was superb!! The food to compliment the hog roast was provided by Wendy and the team and I have to say was fantastic! Believe me I am one fussy customer and I was thrilled with how it all looked and went on the night!
Wendy and her team made our wedding evening a fantastic experience and we have no hesitation in reccommneding the Duke as a venue second to none. Thank you!!!

First time to Tadworth and we initially wanted to go to the Blue Anchor but luckily for us they closed the kitchen at three and we went into a packed Dukes Head, nice ambiance, great choice of traditional pub food and a friendly welcome. Went back for the wife's birthday and the food didnt let us down.
Happily go back as we have been looking for a nice place to go for pub meal and am pleased to find one.

Been there 4 times since Sept 2007 and I have to admit the food and service are really 2nd to none in the area. Have in troduced 3 other couples to the place, they also loved it, so much so we were there last Thu night for a meal for a birthday of one of said couples.

Great value too, and has a nice friendly atmosphere. Dog friendly and a nice little garden, also has a mini classic VW meet in their car park every other Thu

boring pub with little to offer, owner trying to sell and this shows in the retail side of the poor quality beer and lousy staff.....
better off going to the anchor or the local social club......200 yards away......

Much improved in recent times and hard to fault. Friendly staff, food good for what it is, and decent regulars.

This pub has got considerably better since new ownership. The staff are always friendly and helpful, family run pub alongside The Woolpack in Banstead, under same ownership. Barmaids always smiley and friendly, one blonde one in particular always shines through with personality and charisma. You'll know when you see her! Great pub, 10 out of 10!

Going downhill fast. Full of noisy pissed rich kids blocking up the bar, even worse if there's football on.
nickdavies - 13 Nov 2006 13:55

mysterydrinker - 2 Apr 2006 10:03

The new management got off to a good start here. I liked their earlier menus, particularly the asparagus wrapped in Parma ham starter. Regretfully I haven't seen it on their fare since and I fear quality is gradually becoming compromised. That said, a reasonable array of ale is offered and nice wine as well. Beer garden is let down by lack of tables and seating.
Biguns - 30 May 2005 08:32
Certainly the best of the three pubs along this stretch of road. Somewhat curious refurbishment, must admit I preferred the genuine thirties roadhouse interior.
nickdavies - 8 Mar 2005 16:51

Nick and Ana have owned The Dukes Head in Tadworth for the last two years and have substantially refurbished it to create a country pub and restaurant that is a perfect blend of traditional and modern - nice fires, great food...well worth a visit

It is difficult to know when the pub is open. Now closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. The owners are very unfriendly. The drinks are very expensive for the area.
