user reviews of the Twitchel Inn, Long Eaton

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Visited a couple of months ago. Don't know if this is a permanent feature but there were three real ciders to choose from. I decided to try a raspberry and pomegranate still cider at 4% costing £2.85 a pint. It was a bit strange, perhaps still cider is not my thing.

There were two banks of 6 pumps, as well as the 3 ciders mentioned, there was New World (duplicated across both sets of pumps), Doom Bar, and the rest real ales.

It is smaller than your average Spoons but not really small as far as pubs go generally. It extends back further than you would expect when looking at the pub from the outside.

No complaints but I will probably stick to the ale next time!

Worth a visit if visiting Long Eatons real ale pubs, especially for the great value food.
The Stumble Inn and Hole in the Wall are much better in most other respects.

Now in the 2011 Good Beer Guide, probably the most improved pint in Long Eaton. Has its drawbacks like all 'spoon pubs, but I've rated solely on the ale quality which I've found to be very good!

Not a particularly nice place even by wetherspoon standards.Sticky floors, slow service and usually filled with undesirables. The upside of this place is (as with all spoons) the prices are very reasonable, but I certainly wouldn't call it a favourite of mine.

First impressions of the Twitchell Inn is that it one of the better Wetherspoon's establishments although like many others in the chain that I have visited, I found parts of it a bit claustrophobic. That said, the beer is pretty good and the staff seem on the ball too. And it doesnt seem to be frequented by much of Long Eatons lowlife either.

As for the previous comment Long Eaton IS in Derbyshire. OK, the towns post codes are Nottingham (NG) and the phone numbers all have the Nottingham prefix (0115), but the town and the pub are on the Derby side of the county boundary.

A Wetherspoons pub. Great starting place in readiness for a large one, or good pub to be in all night to get leathered and have a chat and a laugh with mates. Always busy at weekends.
