If they changed the pubs name to King Turd it would be far more fitting!

Very good range of real ale, however the beer was disappointingly warm on my visit. Scruffy inside with similar dubious looking clientele. Live music consisted of a few guys who sounded very drunk singing in the style of 'a club singer'. Not the sort of place to take the family, surprising it survives right on the front where tourist choice usually defines if a pub survives or not. Maybe they were having a bad day with the beer, maybe not?

A good range of of beer but pretty basic inside. Smaller inside than it seems from the outside. Could do with a spruce up.

I cannot comment on the beer but had a very dissapoining experience here. I suggest if you are do not speak in the local dialect you may be refused entry. I visited with my colleagues all of which work for the same charity that I am the founder of to celibrate a birthday. I was the designated driver so had not been drinking, on entry the doorman refused me entry and the rest of my team inside which I found very hard to comprehend his actions. Needless to say I withdrew our team and we went elsewhere. It appears if your in your 20s and look as you have dressed like you cant be bothered your allowed in. If you speak well and dress well and act well dont bother unless your female of course..

Much improved. The beer is well kept. I have tried the food and is of good quality. Pub very convenient for bus, trains & ferries.

Much improved since my last visit a few years ago when the beer was undrinkable and the pub was dirty with indifferent service. The pub has been spruced up and the beer was well kept. We even ate here this time and it was very good. Back on the list to visit when we return.

Slightly worn, but then so am I. Went in this afteroon & delighted to find Weston's Old Rosie cider, and a home made lamb, chickpea and sweet potato curry with home made chutney.

A reasonable pub near to the ferry port from the main land.

Serves decent real ale and lager and has live music on the Friday we visited, also open till the early hours

The only problem is some of the customers suffer from "Ryde Disease" which is small town nobodies who think they are somebodies and are as a result rude and aggresive if you do not come from the town.

As a result of the above you have to be careful who you talk to, which can make the evening more unpleasant than it needs to be.

Did not originally intend to go in here as I was looking for Fowlers (a 'spoons place). Changed my mind when I saw the hill I had to walk up.

It was quiet so the service was quick and friendly and the food was very good and served with a smile.

Had a pint of Goddards Best Bitter and a pint of Sharps Cornish Ale - both very good. I agree with detectorman - don't be fooled by the outside there is plenty of room inside and there is a very good atmosphere inside. Wiil certainly pay is another visit.

We had lunch here on a short visit to Ryde. Don't be fooled by the small frontage. There is a huge welcome inside with a very good lunch menu. The food was great even if the furnishings had seen better days. We will return on our next visit without hesitation.

me and two friends went in on Saturday night and i must comment about the landlord/barman,what a prat ! he took away a bar stool without any explanation and then when questioned why he just flipped he took away our drinks reckoned we were drunken, abusive and violent. He allegedly was on the phone to the police and then when i raised a hand to beckon him to stop he told whoever was on the phone that i'd slapped him. these werent actions of someone thats in the hospitality trade, the person told blatent lies and a could have made something so harmless into a violent situation,im afraid thats the last time I or anyone i know will be visiting this place. All this occured on Sat 3rd of April 2010, We are two aged 55 and one aged 52 so hardly young hooligans !

Very transient pub opposite the ferry/bus and hovercraft terminal.
Nice pint of Goddards special. Not a place to spend all night in.

Was down here for the Ice Hockey in November. Good, reasonably priced drinks, good food, well worth a visit. Like others have said, it doesn't look much from the outside, but don't let that put you off, it's well worth it.

Very pleasantly surprised on our first visit. Does 3 real ales, including HSB and a guest ale at 2 a pint. Food was good and varied and exceptionally well priced. It won't be our last visit!

I think this pub is a suprise it doesn't look much from the outside but inside is clean and tidy and fairly quiet for a seafront pub have eaten here and found the food to be good. Nice to wait in here for the last bus home.

Ahh but Twiglets, looking good on the outside is no guarantee of beauty on the inside. Anyway, it's years since I've been to this place but it was always my favourite island pub and, if scooteroy is to be believed, is still a top boozer. I'm just glad it's not turned into a bl**dy O'Neils or something.

I go here every August Bank Holiday for the scooter rally. It is a great pub for " the crack" with the mad Bikers that go there too.
