The place has closed. Sounds like all the bad vibe and crappy service did for it in the end. I wonder if all the staff went next door (to the benefit office)!

Closed and gutted (the building, not me, as this was an awful place).

Nice looking place, lots of space, good furniture and lager selection is not bad, if not a bit expensive. But, it really is pretty souless, the staff seem like they really don't want to be there.

Of an evening, the music volume is hiked progressively louder, to the point at which you have to scream to your mate to have a chat. At the risk of sounding like my grandad, what is the point of this? Perhaps to try and compensate for the lack of atmosphere?

Food is average at best. Don't go for the sharing platter - a complete ripoff at 12 for a couple of prawns, chips and garlic bread.

Overall, not somewhere you will want to spend much time or cash in.

I went to this bar on Friday the 18th of February at around 8:30.

The venue itself is quite nice - very spacious, plenty of seating available, and quite well ventilated. Not to overcrowded which was nice.

I won't ever go back though! The bar service was the worst I have ever experienced in London. Perhaps they were understaffed, but reading other reviews it appears I am not alone in this experience...

I bought 2 rounds during the evening and both times it took me about 30 minutes to get served (no exageration). By the end of the evening when I wanted to buy a last round I simply gave up and left with my friend.

I think I saw 3 bar staff on duty, yet the bar was was packed with customers for about 4 rows back...

Completely unacceptable!

souless, too loud (you can't talk in there), expensive, very rude bouncers - one said to me "take that f***in hat off or I'll throw you into the street - ye f***in egit" - which i thought was nice...

Used to very chilled ( a touch of Clerkenwell about it) when it first opened. Now gone downhill, pricey beers, poor service. A good point is during the summer it opens up the front and can be quite nice early evening before hoardes turn up.

Unutterably terrible. Crap, expensive beer. Massive queues at the bar without enough staff to deal with them. Obnoxious bouncers. Hideous decor reminiscent of a branch of Comet. No, no, no.

Was quite decent when it first opened, but now the atmosphere's gone downhill - too many yobs - I think because it has a late licence and it's near Pu na na.

Nice and stylish atmosphere.
Very good life music! Especially on 11 July 2004 (singing, piano, drums)!!! An amazing trio (Anna, Joe and Ben)!

'The' needs a good group of people to get it going then its fine for a goodnight. Fit waitress!

Its quite good, it is what you make of it.
Rob - 17 Mar 2004 16:28
It lacks atmosphere.

It's fine if you're after a nice glass or two of wine. I don't get the TV screens though - wouldn't you have stayed at home if you wanted to watch garbage on the telly?

Odd place - TV's on the lounge seats. The waitress service is a good idea, however it is slower than going to the bar yourself, plus the waitress pocketed the change as a tip, without even asking. Open till 12, will not be rushing back, but if I am in Wimbledon, may pop in as part of a crawl.

Should be a good bar, it's large and the layout is good. But the atmosphere isn't what it should be. Good job there is a really fit blonde bar maid or i wouldn't go there.

OK if you think your cool. Owner once told me off for putting a ciggie out on the floor ("oh no"). Kept telling me how much it cost. ("Interesting"). Thats all folks

totally dog - will never go here again in my life. Worst pint of Guiness poured I've ever seen - it had a 2 inch head on it and the clueless barmaid thought it was acceptable and wanted to charge me 3 for the pleasure! Plus you get your change on a silver plate after being ripped off and there's some geezer in the bogs who tries to assist you with washing and drying your hands. Totally rank and cheesey - avoid at all cost!

the beer is served flat. the clientele are tacky and it looks like IKEA. In fact you would have a better time in IKEA with a couple of cans of super t

Rubbish place, full of tossers trying to be cool. Just have a drink and relax you may even restart the art of conversation. Beers no good as well...
B.A. - 11 Jul 2003 22:06
Horrid. Really vile commercial pap frequented by "de lids" wearing shiny suits on weekdays and black trousers and garish shirts on weekends.
