Now a bar/gastropub called the Wenlock & Essex - gaudy interior, loud, aimed at well-heeled under-30s. Knows its Islington clientele!

The Living Room is dead. Long live whatever bar comes in it's place! This place has the builders in at the moment.

I thought this place was alright - I didn't see any rudeness from staff & they were all really smiley & friendly towards me on the door as well as behind the bar (on a busy Friday night too) but maybe it's different for male v female clientele? Yep expensive drinks so I wouldn't make this a regular but ok for every so often. The piano guys are always pretty good too with their cover music!
The booths as you come in are always cordoned off for a 'private party' despite only having about 15 people in the whole area. Sort it out, it's annoying when everywhere else is standing room only & packed.

Very expensive - even for islington... go to Embassy just down the road.

Just awful. Even worse than the one in Brixton, which is going some. Sneer city.

no attraction to this place unless you like Carlsberg, I think from 4 tap beers they offered Carlsberg, Carlsberg Export, Guinness & Carlsberg (again). Small areas are terrible for a group larger then say, 4.

Nice cocktails, shame about the clientele. And they should think about doing some kind of bar snacks/nibbles instead of suggesting you go into the restaurant for a 15-quid plate of sausage and mash...

Terrible place. Always packed with w*nkers. Rude staff, both behind the bar and on the door. Very expensive. However they have the Lingerie Channel on TVs behind the bar so the hours spent waiting to get served aren't too bad.

Really expensive, terrible beer. They sometimes have a pianist/singer. He is dreadful. It is full of estate agents. They prance around and think they are cool. They're not.

Beer not too bad pricewise, staff friendly and atmos ok. Not bad for a drink but if you like a proper pub, it won't be your scene.

You wanna go posh? Go here not blinkin' pizzaexpress! Quality fixtures, fittings and furniture. Pretty damn classy. Great alternative to the bigger chain establishments nearby.

If this is what you want from a bar, go to Croydon - you'll be spoilt for choice.

the decor is nice and relaxing. went there last nite for the second time since summer but was very disappointed by rude English staff, though the french barman was very helpful, friendly and polite! bar was short on any fruitjuices and supply. this was not properly handled by English waiter who even dared to voice rude comments

Didn't find the prices to be any worse than most half trendy places these days. At least they still serve pints! The staff were friendly and attentive and the clientele seems to be a reasonably attractive bunch of 20 and 30 somethings. Overall not a bad place to meet someone else's wife!

Nice but expensive (even for Islington)
