user reviews of the Farmers, Sevenoaks

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

I am always sad when I get out the train at Sevenoaks Station - there used to be two lovely old Victorian pubs - the Railway & Bicycle and the Farmers - but now the area looks like something out of a JG Ballard nightmare.

The developers were extremely fast to demolish the pubs but both have remained derelict for years and I read at least one of the companies went into administration.

The Farmers was a good place to meet someone off the train, a nice warm cosy place in winter with lovely gardens to use in summer.

What a shame - if the developers ever get going it'll be a boring block of flats on both sides of the spaghetti junction - bring back our pub and some character to the area!!

Yeah - and how sad is it to see the site _still_ empty and with hoardings around nearly four years later. It was demolished for retail and office space - although there's two huge empty office blocks within 500 yards. I hope the economy never recovers sufficiently to build another one. Let's have our nice pub back instead!
What a pathetic business the planning regs are.

First came across this pub in Dec 2004 whilst working across the road in the BT building and at lunchtimes would pop out for a beer here. What a lovely little boozer, great food, friendly bar staff, always packed and a good atmosphere all round really. Was gutted to see it had been pulled down to make way for poncy flats! I even signed their petition to keep it open in 2005, I had 3 very good months in this establishment and a few pissed up ones too.
Will be sadly missed, especially the octagonal pool table!!
