Great beer garden for when the Sun's out, even if the quality of the beer doesn't always match. Not keen on it inside of an evening, however, but that's just me.

Avoid like the plague, full stop. Very poor standard of beer and they frequently run the place down to an exceptionally poor standard before perfunctory renovations.

Gets incredibly busy on some nights. Only visit if you fancy the idea of queueing for about half an hour for a pint of sub-standard lager. Avoid like the plague on fridays, saturdays, sundays, mondays.........

It used to be great, a real old feel to the place, proper pues and wooden tables etc. Then it got taken over by the Scream people!
Now you have the same aluminium bar crap as ever other place, but in a church.
Still, the Queen of Tarts always provides a great night out, I've never heard anyone complain in person about it!

Very poor door policy. I've lived in Manchester all my life, but cannot get in this place! Some gimp who has just arrived with his/ her nice shiny NUS can...go figure?

im a student been there twice and left both times within 5 minutes THE worst bar in manchester and im sure of it. too loud to have a decent chilled out convo and not a nightclub - poor.

Not a very nice pub any more. The whole place has a nightclub feel to it - downstairs is very sparse and cold.

this pub now has an NUS policy.
Note to Henry however, violence in pubs is not exclusive to non-students. I myself am not a student any more but have never had a fight in a pub. The policy in the Queen of Hearts should not have to exclude those who are no longer students (or indeed those who have never been students), it should be merely to prevent the hordes of scallies polluting manchester from getting in.

Deeply sub-standard pub. Poor beer, idiotic clientele, over-loud, indiferent tunes and long queues. There is so much more to Manchester (and life) than this flea-pit. The only thing it has in its favour is convenience.

This pub use to be great (up to 1998), over the past 5 years its gone down hill beyond belief, I know 4 students who have been beaten up in this pub, girls and boys all by locals who have been let in because there is no nus only policy. Avoid at all costs.

It was definitely a church hall. It is also an obscenely bad pub. The beer is rank, the clientele odious and the staff inept. Avoid.

Don't know about this ever being a school but in the years prior to it becoming the lamentable tourist sewer it now is, it was definitely a church hall.

Well i'm a student and Queen of tarts is my local. It's a cheap night out in a friendly environment, especially wednesdays (�1 a reef!!!). Queen of heart ROCKS!

just a reply to these quotes, firstly, it does not have an nus only policy, as a student brand, there are discounts available for students. Second, its a really good night out. Also it was never a church hall, it was a school. As a regular for 10 years, its a great bar and agreat night out

As a local resident and a non-student I think the 'NUS Card Only' policy at this place is a joke. The sooner it goes out of business and gets bought by someone with a bit of common sense about them the better

God this place is terrible. What a waste of such a beautiful building. Very cheap however, but that's all I can say in the plus side.

A former church hall, recently become another Scream Pub. Great to sit outside there when its warm, a real holiday buzz about the area in Summer. You need to like students though.
