I don't live in the area anymore, but I'm glad the Turks Head has had a rebranding, and a good shakeover, it needed it

What a lovely manageress that this pub badly needed. She is friendly and welcoming and what a pleasure to visit and she always has a smile for everyone.the beers are in top condition and ESPN sports will now be shown in the new football season.

What a lovely Pub. Can't believe some of the comments on here. Just recently started using the pub as I know the new landlady from old. The pub is clean and welcoming and all the staff are friendly and courteous. The recent 80's disco was a brilliant night. I will definately be using the pub a lot more.

I have been to this pub quite a few times and only hav good comments, I even held my daughters christening reception there. It is friendly, clean, welcoming and also children are welcome which these days finding a pub that lets children in is very rare. And the mangers jane and terry are 2 of the nicest people I have met they will do anything for any one they are kind, helpful, honest, genuine and funny and I think they do a very good job of running the pub and the owners of the pub are very silly for getting rid of them. my husband also drinks in there and plays in there dart team and because they are leaving the dart team will be taking the team to another pub so you will be losing out on a lot money and all the regulars have said they will be drinking in there after jane and terry leave so once they leave i can see the pub going downhill very fast. You are making a big mistake getting rid of jane and terry!!!!!!!!!!

ive been using this pub for a couple of months now and not only is it clean the landlord and landlady has always made me feel welcome there is pretty much always something happening over the week end and the management join in with punters.ive even taken my old mum in and jane always makes her a cuppa so a very friendly and welcoming pub keep it up jane and terry loverly people

I ncannot believe that the previous reviewer even visited The Turks Head as it is now a very welcoming public house with a new decor just been completed. It is run very well by Jane and Terry who have cleaned out all the riff raff that the previous manager allowed. It is now a place to watch sky and enjoy a pleasent evening with friends so give it a chance.

Visited this pub 2 weeks ago with friends and family whilst on a visit to the UK. I found it a very warm and friendly pub with a real friendly atmosphere. We too were also in there for a football match and although it was loud and busy I am sure it is deemed acceptable to cheer for your football team when they score a goal. I wouldn't of called it a rowdy atmosphere.
When we returned the following day we enjoyed several games of pool and enjoyed some evening entertainment, which was a disco/karoke that night.
Seems ashame that there are some poor reviews on here for this small and friendly yet lively pub.

I don't agree at all with Italaiux. This is one of the worst 50 pubs in the UK

just a quick word for all are good customers who read some of the stuff that simple minded people trying to score brownie point for there own pub if you can not say something nice about this pub dont try to run this venue down because you are only wasting your time these people have run down a number of pubs in the area .plus i have noticed when we refuse a person in our pub these stories about the pub pop up the day after or a few days after i as a manager will seek legal advice as some of these fabricated stories are not doing any one any good .and to call are customers in bread oinks is discusting in its own right

Following the 18 September review - was Vinny sacked then?? I must go in an see how it is under Ivan. Used to be a good pub 10 or more years ago with a varied and very attactive menu but sadly things went very down hill at one stage. Let's hope for better days.

great new manager called Ivan in there now.Looks like a pub now with all the events that are going on.He has even a food menu going great guy give him a chance.

What are you saying? Disco without lights. Are you colourblind? The place is very colourful with flashing ropelights around the stage and Vinny even has coloured bulbs on the lights around the bar. The mood is set perfectly, the staff were very friendly and served us very quickly, take note chain pubs (you know who you are)!. You just can't please some people. We had a great night and will be back next week, keep up the good work Vinny!! Emma x

Our band played here on Friday 7th Sept. Having read some old reviews on here it was with a sense of trepidation when we arrived. However, what we did not expect or realise was the this pub has a new Landlord - the wonderful, charismatic Vinny... He has only been there 6 weeks and is attempting to put the pub on the spot as a regular music venue. The band brought their own lights, and set up in a small "stage" area to one side of the pub, and the night was enjoyed by all. Great staff, some lovely customers, this was actually a great pub to play in - largely due to Vinny, who even sang a number himself. We'll be back on 5th October, hope to see a few more people down there - you need to support live music if you want to keep it live! This pub had great potential - give him a chance, he has only been there a few weeks, and has plans for the place! Keep up the good work Vinny!

I went there last Friday with my friends and had the best night ever. The Manager and staff were friendly and very funny, the people there were happy friendly and a great laugh. We danced the night away to a great band called Undiscovered. I will definately go back there again. Thanks Vinny and Rory for a great night!

if you are a police officer as you claimed you should not be using your profession in this manner.Nice friendly pub with music on friday nights
anonymous - 26 Aug 2007 21:37
If you are a police officer you will know that the owners contact details are displayed in the public house so why are you not contacting them with these allegations.Where do you get the time to write all these reviews and visit all these pubs?I think alc in your name stands for something else!!Contact your licensing officer about this pub before you make any more allegations or contact the owners.
healy7browning - 23 Aug 2007 07:56
Hello anonymous.... I am a serving police officer and can corroborate all that I have said. Cloaked in your anonymous attire I doubt your credibilty. This pub is a dangerous nasty place to be. Known @ the nick as "Junkies Palace" - despite the inaffcationate new manager.
tanya_alc - 22 Aug 2007 01:00
checked with police and all the comments from this person are completely unfounded. This pub has recently had new management and caters for all age groups but is over 21s.Is this person a customer or someone who has a personel grievience for whatever reason

Sorry this is a bit late, but We had a fantastic New Years Eve in here, lots of food, and beer was as good as ever.

A favourite from mid 80s to mid 90s. A strange but friendly mix of customers. Remembered for having extended hours on bank holidays. Bizarre when the next day was a working day!!
