After a visit to the excellent Pint Shop (not listed on BITE), my final new pub in Birmingham City Centre was this café in a lively area next to New Street station. Three real ales are served - Birmingham Brewing Company Pale Brummie, Kinver Noble/Over The Edge & Fowne's Guendoline's Guile. There are also a number of craft beers on draught and in bottles. The cakes also looked tempting. Whilst downstairs looks like a café, there is another room upstairs where a band appeared to be setting up. Worthy of a stop if in this neck of the woods.

Good Beer Guide 2020 Entry - A cafe bar with a very pubby feel inside.
Knowledgeable staff - good beer (Pale Brummie was pefect) and a monthly comedy night in the upstairs room.
We will be back.

Popped in here quite late in the evening and found it to be a very pleasant venue. Food was good and reasonably priced, although one of our party had to send it back as it was stone-cold. She was offered a free drink as well as a fresh meal. Three real ales on from unusual breweries. Nice place - would visit again.

Cheating a bit by reviewing on here as we popped in for brunch of a Sunday morning. The beer selection - craft in the main - looks very good indeed. Our breakfast was just fine with a halloumi option for veggies (authenticists might not approve of halloumi with baked beans). Service was affable and there is plenty of literature about upcoming gigs and movies.

Been to this a couple of times with my friend Philip. After the last visit, last Saturday, I thought I’d have a look what BITE said about this place. Found myself generally agreeing with the last poster – then realised it had been posted by Philip himself !
Anyway, the first thing to note about this place is that it is on more than one floor – so if it seems crowded when you first enter, don’t give up ! In fact the first floor is a lot larger than the ground floor, and includes one room where the walls are covered in maps.
More of a cafe-bar than a pub, so the beer isn’t the main focus – but is a very good range none the less. They seem to have a few of everything – 3 or 4 real ales on handpump, and similar numbers of continental lagers (e.g. Schneider Weiss) and UK craft beers. Also, a large range of bottled beers. There is a beer list, but it doesn’t include everything ! For the specials, you have look at the list above the bar. On my latest visit I tried the Hopcraft Profits of Doom (a stout) which was very nice.

The main things I remember about the food menu are breakfasts, burgers and pancakes, though what I actually had was a club sandwich. There is also a specials board, but only downstairs.
For both food and beer, prices aren’t cheap, but quality is excellent, and is much better value than some places. The main drawback, is the stairs, which are rather steep and certainly not recommend for carrying more than one drink at a time up !
7/10 – not the best at anything, but a good all round favourite

This is a nice continental-style café-bar, serving draft and bottled beers, as well as coffee, tea, cakes, lunch-food, etc.
There are usually a couple of cask ales, plus some interesting continental beers, and a good selection of bottled beers.
Furniture in this small corner building is mainly second-hand domestic tables and chairs, with a couple of sofas. There are also some tables outside.
Up the precipitous stairs (which also lead to the loos) are both an additional seating area and two separate rooms (one decorated with an assortment of maps pasted to the walls) that can be booked, but are otherwise available to general patrons.

Cool place, smallish downstairs but there are two rooms upstairs and an upstairs bar. The food is fine and reasonably priced. There is a small selection of hand pulled beers and also draught foreign beers or English craft beers. There's an interesting bottle fridge too
