user reviews of the Red Lion, Goostrey

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

The Red Lion in Goostrey does allow kids in to dine, the Red Lion in Holmes Chapel does not allow children in under the age of I think 16!

The Red Lion Goostry is a very "Kids Friendly" pub, nice grassed area and a warm welcome to all!

Bring your tent and stay overnight!! Even caravans are welcome.

Very tidy pub. Good staff. Wish they'd let kids in to eat though.

DISCUSTING FOOD !!
Raw Uncooked and Cold Food and Extreamly Rude Aggressive Staff.
Had Food Poisoning the Next Day.
Reported to Trading Standards due to lack of food standards.
Will make sure nobody we know visits again after being spoken to like we were.
Dont expect staff to be polite in this pub - more likey to get sworn at !

3rd Leg of Anorak Tour 2009 and pub is a brisk 10 walk from Station (8 to 10 minutes). Good selection of beers to try (we chose Black Sheep) which was ok but not special. Pool table and darts for the sports minded and good selection of music on the jukebox as well as pinball and quiz and slot machine. Live music on the Friday night which we didn't stop for as train schedule didn't allow

Tried this pub sunday lunch for a couple of pints, really friendly staff, good service, the coach house Dick Turpin was in excellent condition. A nice rural setting could find no fault.

This is an excellant pub which serves home made food, everything is prepared to order and so fresh. They also serve real hand pulled beer. They have a function room and the landlord has been doing Disco's for over 30yrs. The Function Room is free of charge and the rate of the disco is reduced. They also have a Pool Team, Darts Team, Dominos Team, Quiz Machine, A brand New Table Football, Jukebox and Fruit Machines it's an excellant all Rounder Pub. Theres a Patio area with BBQ, a Child Play Garden with ample outdoor seating.

A great place for a quiet week night or lunch time tipple. There are plenty of things to do from pool table or childrens play area to darts or the Jute Box (fully loaded with all your faves). However its a bit dead on a saturday and on Friday night there is an excessively loud poorly attended disco and some aggressive shooter sales. Great on weeknights not so at weekends.
