Usually a decent selection of well kept cask ales at around £2-20 a pint, not a place I would spend all evening but great for a couple of pints and some decent cheap food

Visited a couple of weeks back around lunchtime mid-week.

10 pumps at the bar split across two banks of 5. All 5 on one bank were something a bit different including a couple of autumn theme bitters. The other bank had Gunpowder Mild plus others including the usual suspects Doom Bar etc.

I went for a pint of Northern Knight by Maxim, 4.2%, which set me back £2.09. Great value!

Typical Spoons experience really - not a complaint.

Not the worse wetherspoons I've been to but seems to have its fair share of local deadbeats and work shys. Beer on offer was from Dunscar bridge and was quite decent. A modern building with two floors and a lift.

Used to be a favourite of mine, it's really gone downhill in the last couple of years, I don't know what's gone wrong, it's certainly not as busy at weekend now.
One Saturday night when I went in they had a wheelie bin parked by the lift near the front door, if I'd been Tim Martin heads would have rolled.

According to JDWetherspoons website "We support CAMRA and recognise excellence in the service of cask ale".

It's a pity the Sir Henry Tate is not singing from the same hymn sheet.

Visited the pub today the 5th April 2013 as we normally do when in Chorley hoping that the food, service and cleanliness had improved as it has steadily gone down over the weeks. Appear to be only concerned with the men who want drinks. I was with my grandson of 21, we ordered Chilli and Rice with a drink. This was at 2.00pm. All the tables on the level up from the bar were filthy and some full of dirty pots. We placed our order at 2.00pm. At 2.45 a young woman came and said "Hi guys sorry for the wait 3/4 hr" and plonked the food on the table. It was awful, the rice was cold the Chilli too and seemed to be stuck to the plate it tasted funny. Neither of us could eat it. Tried to catch the waitress walking past to no avail. Eventually we got up and went to the bar.We spoke to a young woman behind pulling pints and told her the meal was not fit to eat. We got the reply " what do you want me to do" and carried on pulling the pint. We asked to see someone in authority but got ignored. I do hope someone from Weatherspoons takes notice of what the public think . This pub used to be very good but now I dont think I will go in again. The customer service is lacking, cleanliness and food standards terrible.

I had a absolutely disgusting experience in this place and will never return, after just coming out of hospital and recovering from knee surgery i went to use the disabled toilet downstairs as the main toilet is situated on the second floor and you must go up two sets of stairs,i was told by a young ignorant member of staff that i wasn't disabled and had to use the upstairs toilet,i left my drink obviously unattended on the bar and proceeded to the upstairs loo,it took me an age to return, upon which my drink had been removed from the bar,a lady sat near said she watched the young girl remove my drink which was nowhere near empty, when i complained it had gone she categorically denied touching it even though the lady backed me up,i was told i couldn't have another not only on the house but at all because i had complained too much,i was only two days out of hospital and up until then 8 of us were celebrating my Grandchilds birth,my Daughter also complained on my behalf but was met with a stone wall resistance,we had already paid for our meal and were offered no refund,we left in disgust at the pubs attitude in defending this one young girls ignorance, vowing never to return and inform all family and friends of the same,i have since been told many similar stories about the place and the fact that staff want fewer customers in so less work to clean up,but i will add this the food that we had just been served looked and tasted nice but we left with a v bitter taste in our mouths.

A busy "Wetherpoons" in the centre of Chorley, with so many around these days it's often hard to distinguish one from another, as consistency is the Company name of the game.

This large purpose built two storey establishment has bars on each floor, the upstairs facility however is usually only staffed at busy times. Real ale is exclusively served at the large bar on the ground floor.

The range of beers on tap varies quite widely, but more often than not they are sourced locally. On tap on my visit (4/6/11) were; Phoenix~White Tornado, Coach House~Dick Turpin & Blueberry Classic Bitter, Thwaites~Wainwright, George Wright~Pure Blond & Blonde Moment, Ossett~Yorkshire Blonde, plus the usual generics.

Overall this is a pretty good "Spoons" but is so often spoilt by the inconsiderate types that seem to dominate this place with their foul mouths and drunken volumes. On the day of my visit (4/6/11) this was no exception, I managed to drink 2 pints before some teenage mothers & screaming kids got the better of me. It's obvious to me that ambience is not a desirable Wetherspoons attribute, so if like me, you like a quiet pint, be on your guard if you decide to visit here.

OK, it lacks character, but it has friendly staff, clean toilets, cheap food & cheap beer....What else can you say? It's a "Spoons" You get what you pay for, so don't expect anything else.

That all said, the beers were good, so it is worth a visit if you can find a quiet corner to hide in.
