I agree with alot of people here, Drinks and cocktails here are very bad served badly by rude staff... and to top it off... way too expensive!!!

''Lacks a drinkable beer beyond a blanc, you ask a whiskey and dry ginger, you sometimes get it, you sometimes get a blank stare.''

IT'S NOT A BAR!!! It's a resturant, with a bar that serves drinks. It's not designed for drinking, it's designed for a drink pre/post meal.

I only drink there because its the after work venue (that and the dodger)

Talk about between a fraggle rock and a hard place, and this is the fraggle rock.

Cold, souless, reminds me of that god awful chicargo chain.

Lacks a drinkable beer beyond a blanc, you ask a whiskey and dry ginger, you sometimes get it, you sometimes get a blank stare.

Its your regular 'trendy' racket venue.

Expensive and useless staff, unfortunately it is the local 'bar' to where I work, even on slow evenings like Sundays there are never enough staff to cope with the amount of punters and it always takes far too long to be served, not good.

Very much a themed restaurant with its own bar. What's the point of the Rotunda? To make lots of money.
anonymous - 4 Jul 2006 17:13
Not a pub, a restaurant with a bar (as everyone else has said).
Vile coffee also.
Is there any point to the Rotunda?
beeronaut - 9 Jan 2006 22:36
adding to the previous post, the 'bar' is for pre dinner drinks etc, not to spend a full evening socalising.
anonymous - 4 Jan 2006 16:47
weekendboozer you are totally missing the point.

Old Orleans is NOT a bar. It is a resturant that happens to let people use the bar just for drinks.

If you want a bar cross the road to Barcadia.

If you want a meal stick to Old Orleans.

Hmmm, I'm in two minds about this one. On one hand, the drinks (particularly the great range of cocktails) are excellent, but on the other, the place lacks the charm and charisma of so many other good bars. There should be no reason why this place is so often empty and soulless. This is somewhere I would stop before, say, seeing a flick at the cinema above, but not somewhere I would plan on spending an evening.

Enjoyed a really nice evening here with my man. Easy to get served at the bar, found some comfy bar stools and talked the night away.
Perfect.

Yer bog standard Old Orleans, OK if you want to see hen nights or people on the pull, no other real reason to go there..
TheGP - 14 Jan 2005 13:03
I didn't think it was possible for a large/well stocked/resonably well decorated bar to be so....devoid of atmosphere!!! This place is absolutly souless and dull, and very overpriced. when there ate so buch better bars in Kingston (ie barcadia,ha ha, bar 2 far)this one is well worth taking a rain check on.

Drinks overpriced, how much for a bottle of water?
Mr Vincent Mancini - 4 Sep 2004 19:20
HOW much for a drink??? My response last time I went in. The only time. Do we need any more soulless crappy bars? Kingston is full of them! It's so BORING!!!!!!!!!
Jane - 17 Aug 2004 12:37
Very expensive and completely soulless - However, drinks and food are pretty good
