On our recent visit there were 7 ales on, barmaids friendly & helpful. I had Tiny Rebel 'CWTCH', a tasty ale.

On our recent visit to Chesterfield we had a walk up to this pub. A popular pub with 12 ales on, I had Millstone 'Tiger Rut' [light & refreshing]. Barmaid was very efficient & helpful. A decent smoking area to the side next to an annexe called the Barn.

Totally agree with Number 11. Excellent choice of beers from micros and in good condition. Just past Holy Trinity Church where rail enthusiasts should pay respects to George Stephenson who is buried inside.

Cracking real ale emporium with about 10 real ales the night I visited. Friendly bar staff and clientele. Well worth the walk from the town centre.

Fantastic place been a few months since I visited but a great night out even when just passing by. Would go back when I'm in the area

We were staying across the road in Chesterfield and decided to give this pub a go. It doesn't look promising from the outside but it is an absolutely superb, comfortable and welcoming pub inside. It has a huge range of real ales on (12 when we were there) and all are well kept. It also had 4 real ciders and a perry on. A real mecca for beer drinkers - and don't forget to try the local pork pies too.

Proper old pub with numerous ales on, mainly from Leatherbreeches. Had a nice enough pint of Scoundrel.

This was our pub of the day on our visit to Chesterfield. It has a fine choice of real ales and ciders. The interior is quite pleasant with wood panelling, wooden floors, hops over the bar and various animal heads mounted on the walls. A log fire wasn't giving off too much heat, whilst a games table was set up near the entrance for the "Ches Vegas Casino". Beers on were Fullers London Pride, Leatherbritches CAD, Bounder & Scoundrel, Everards Tiger, Adnams Old Ale, Dancing Duck 22, Whim Hartington Bitter, Kelham Island Pale Rider, Arbor Bullion & Funfair Christmas Cake Walk. Ciders were Ross-on-Wye Scallywag, Moles Black Rat, Westons 1st Quality & Old Rosie and they also have Mr Whiteheads Newtons Discovery Perry. This is a very good pub and I don't often award 9 or 10 out of 10. But I do score this one 9. We also tried the Industry next door, which was smaller and had a poorer range of bog standard ales.

Good beer, but one of the most expensive pints in Chesterfield.

Poor ale!! The thing about having multiple real ales on is that you have to be pulling them through within 3-4 days. This pub had aroungd 10-12 on mid week and the quality just wasn't there! we tried 3 and decided to leave! On the plus sie, the staff were nice and it is a lovely looking pub. just beware of the ales midweek
