Not over enamoured with this place - beer was okay but it felt more like I was drinking in a Student Union bar.

Reminds me of the Tram Depot in Cambridge, the obviously newer pub in a city with largely historic boozers. I like the feel, but the cheap beer was a bit tired, and the continental bottles were the usual suspects.

Didn't like this. Perhaps I had been spoilt by the Victoria. Left us with the impression it is a lager led pub with a fridge full of continental beers and 3 real ales which weren't terribly good. Shame as we were expecting great things having frequented the one in London when it was there.

Visited this pub of a lunchtime taking heed of the reviews bout how it is in the evening. This side of Durham does have an odd feel about it but we found the beer very good and appreciated the opportunity to sample some continental beers. We ate here and the food was very good. A great lunch stop that is away from the tourist traps

A different pub.

On an evening there is little space to sit and it is full of, frankly, the not very nice types of Durham. You are never in danger, but better can certainly be done.

During the daytime, the Northroaders don't go in, seats are available and it is a nice place to stop.

However, this place excels in it's drink. Beer galour in bottle. The whole array of ciders (well the Westons ones). Second behind the Tap & Spile for drink in Durham, although not far off the level of the Half Moon and the Elm Tree.

This pub was very good at the end of 2009 and had a great selection of beers and had a good atmosphere away from the chavvy clientelle that usually populates North Road in Durham. On my last two visits the real ales were off and on the first occasion the pub was filled will people belonging the EDL (from the look of what was on their shirts a far right group) singing and on the second occasion I was asked if I had any "cowies". Potentially a very good pub.

Easily the best selection of beer (and drinks generally) in town. 3/4 regularly rotated hand pumps, the usual top end lagers, one or two wheat beers on tap, and a couple of fruit beers for good measure.

However, where this place really comes into its own is its selection of bottled beers/lagers, many of which I haven't seen anywhere else in the NE. The fact that they have a beer menu speaks for itself.

Unfortunately, this place is located on North Road, but it seems to be going strong and deservedly so.

Highly recommended.

Amazing selection of products - there will be something for everyone here!

Staff are great - fast and friendly - and the Pub itself is a good standard all round. Pop in for a pint, see what you think... all i can say on this one!
