Lots of noisy City boy types trying to capture the bierkeller vibe. It was fun for a few minutes and then my head hurt. Less fun was the £19 I was charged for two steins of admittedly excellent lager. Doubt I’ll be back.

Another place I have been a few times, normally on a Thursday night when the place is busy until around 9am when people finishing eating and move on.

Authentic German bar with a good selection of beers / lagers on tap.

A bit pricey but again I guess that's due to the location and the fact that this place is a bit different.

Never eaten here so cannot comment on the food, though it's always looked good when it's gone past me.

been here several times, is very quiet on a Sunday and they like to close up early if they can. Food was good though. Good selection of German beers, not cheap but ok for London. Gets rammed on Friday nights, probably due to comedy oompah band

Quiet on a Sunday evening. Interesting concept, even if the beers available are fairly bogstandard at home, an opportunity for a draaught wheat beer in the UK should not be missed. Only a handful of customers alll evening. Food was OK, not outstanding but I've had worse value for money. Staff keen to close up from 9pm, it wasn't clear if that was normal sort of closing time on a Sunday or just the thin clientele but we were pretty much booted out of the door by 9.30pm.

I have to say that it was a very dreadful experience tonight being out in this restaurant/pub or whatever it was. Getting the bill serverd before the meal was quite a surprise for the whole bunch of 15 people I was there with Overpriced beer (0.5l Augustiner Edelstoff 4.95 GBP, of course a luxury to get it in London) Poor service, who didnt even apologize to my complaint.. The dish i ordered was the saussage platter, it looked appalling and has nothing to do with the food I know from my own country. The saussages looked like cooked with a hair drier!! How embarrasing, for me as a German to go out on a night with friends in a place like this. Never again.

Decided to make a visit to what it was like there. There are 8 German and 1 Belgium beers on draught plus numerous other continental bottled beers available too. Had the pork chops to eat which was very nice and the service was prompt and very friendly. It can get quite loud and boisterous in there and I would definately advise reserving a table if there's 4 or more in your party especially if you're planning on going on a Friday or Saturday night. I think it would mainly appeal to a younger but I'd still recommend a visit if only for the novelty value.

7/10.

International brands of ""German"" beer. Fake atmosphere which is something I thought we had lost years ago. All a bit keg and touristy.

a pleasant quiet retreat on a saturday lunchtime away from the throng of borough market, good selection of draft beers though i realised i'd made an error choosing Kaltenberg - Hell - which according to the menu description has "no" aftertaste..... (great advert - so why not drink Carling instead....) The Hacker wheat beer was a big improvement though served up frighteningly cold, i thought refrigeration was a more modern invention than most german beers. Minor gripe but if you walk into a bar you expect to see someone waiting to serve you - not find the entire compliment of bar staff chinwagging in a corner only to follow you to the bar like a poodle each time you go for a refill.

I really like drinking here, it was actually relatively quiet in here on a saturday afternoon compared to the overflowing pubs around borough market. Plenty of space and plenty of beers (no real ale but that's not the point), wasn't impressed by the food though. Good place to meet friends and either move on or stay for an extra beer or two. I can see it getting busier as the evening wears on.

I work in the area and am quickly becoming a regular in this authentic Bavarian bierkellar. The atmosphere is unbeatable, especially on Fridays when they have a brass band on in the evenings. We've eaten here a few times and the food is always excellent, the range of beers is fantastic! Many a sore head come Saturday.... Top notch German-style drinking hole.
