user reviews of the Prince of Wales, Weybridge

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Booked for 10, Sunday lunch - food reasonable, my tomato soup while tasty reminded me of the base for a bolognese sauce with lots of tinned tomato, as a pose to cream of tomato consistency. The roast lamb I had, and the roast beef my Mum had was tough - 'real meat' but definitely not good cuts - we both ended up eating only veg. which was fresh and good.
In all an average meal, but not an eye watering price so I could wear it - lady who took the order was pleasant and very helpful.
The biggest turn off for me was the fact the pub was a little too dog friendly - it was like being at Crufts at one point walking from the restaurant through the bar to the ladies - and typically the dog owners expected you to walk around their animals who covered you in hair as you brushed past - still they obviously felt at home as one squatted on the pub carpet and poo'd ! nice ! and no-one batted an eyelid although the owner did dig out the obligatory plastic bag to dispose of it and the bar staff alterted me just in time before I trod in it ...shant be back to eat needless to say as that will stay with me.

The prince of Wales, a royal shit hole. Just breaking balls, this place is ok. I did see that famous billiards player in here: Ebdon, he was getting a handjob from a couple of mulignans.

Landlord was a nice guy, he offered to buy my wing tips.

Went to this pub today to have some lunch as it had been recommended & i had seen on the site that it was a bit pricey on the ales, but i didnt sample any today so i cant comment. We ordered a burger & i had gammon steak. The food came out & we were not disappointed, we had been asked how we would like the burger cooked & thats a nice touch... It was all very fresh & very tasty at very good prices.

Would recommend this place if you want a nice meal at reasonable prices. Very nice polite landlady & staff.

Well done & we will be back to try a roast.. :-)

Popped in here today for quick jar, the prices are eye watering!

I know this is Weybridge (darling) but 3.90 for a pint of London Pride?

Someone is really taking the proverbial.

A great traditional local pub, friendly mix of older drinkers from all spectrums. Wednesday night is poker night, Thursday is live music and Friday and Saturday are naturally busy. The landlord is very keen on sports and will always have the matches on. The London Pride on tap is very good, Kroenenberg and Perroni too. Cocktails are limited. A decent selection of wine available (Red or White) and a cosy restaurant area. There is an interesting bar menu available also. Great Sunday lunch. Lots of Pub days, shooting, golfing, cricket, rugby trips. If you haven't tried this pub you really should. And don't worry about Brian he really isn't as moody as he looks.

Be aware that there is a new policy regarding eating in this pub. You will be served by the landlady and 10% service will be added to your bill. I have never come across this eating in a pub before and will not return for beer or food.

this pub has got the wrong name, it should be called "the wounded bull" they charge like one

Went to this pub twice in early May. I found the beer to be very expensive. On the first visit my pint of london Pride cost 3-10. A week later the price had increased to 3-25. I consider this to be rather pricy for a rather ordinary pub as the normal price in this area is around 2-40.I was told that the landlord had increased his prices twice in a month. I shall certainly not be paying a return visit.

Sorry to say we were not all that impressed with this pub, I found it on the internet to take my 94 year old Mother out on her birthday with some of my family. The interior was fine and felt quite homely and the service on the whole was good apart from a very stayed lady who had a rather intransigent attidude, especially when we asked for some gravy for a chicken dish that looked very dry,"we only have gravy for the roasts" she said. My first course was prawns and advocado,it was a little tired looking as if it had been hanging around for some time,my roast lamb was fine,my sister had ordered beef and it was both thick and tough. It was disapointing but it sewrved my purpose of getting my old mother and to eat and she enjoyed it and did not notice that the rest of us were not having such a good time.

Friendly little local unruined by 'progress' - Brian likes it being a traditional pub and that way it will stay.

My Partner and I moved to Weybridge mid June 2006 and were recommended the Prince of Wales to be the best local pub around our area in Oatlands.
I cannot agree more we have been welcomed and are treated like regulars already. The majority of staff are very friendly and even though the staff turnover is high the choices of people are very nice.
Biran and Pat have been more than welcoming us to the Pub and it's very lively community and I have never had a boring night out there.

I can recommend this pub and it's home made food definatly a huge thank you to all that have made me and Peter feel so very welcome.

Thanks

shelly

A top pub. Excellent beer, very friendly!
thirstybob - 30 Mar 2006 14:15
Easily the best pub in the area with a small range of excellent beers and home made food which is excellent both at lunchtime and in the evenings
conwen48 - 28 Mar 2006 19:30
An excellent pub off the beaten track with a good wide menu of freshly prepared meals at lunchtime. There are also meals on in the evening at slightly higher prices. A small selection of well maintained beers although a little pricey but worth it.

You cannot beat the atmosphere in this pub...very cosy decor with log fires in the Winter...very loyal customers. My dad has been drinking here for as long as I can remember and I now pop down with him whenever I get the chance. Love it Love it Love it.
PS The food and service is 1st Class

Rugby-mad landlord who knows what sort of customers he wants. Open fires. Good beer. Good food either in the bar or restaurant. Busy Fridays, Saturdays and Sunday lunchtimes, less frenetic other nights of the week. Dog friendly. Constantly-changing and multi-national array of barmaids, so if you don't like one, there'll probably be another one along shortly.

A traditional pub. If you wanted to define the quintessential British boozer to someone from another planet this place would do the job. No fruit machines, juke boxes or other diversions to keep you focused on the beer.

A damn fine pub! full of loyal customers and very professional staff. A must for all fans of rugby and man-sized portions of great grub! Good Guinness as well.

I love this pub - the landlord and landlady are brilliant. This is a wonderful cozy pub. Different nights - different atmospheres. For those Rugby mad friday and saturday nights are for you - other times for the more quiet drinks. Best food around - definitely not pub grub. Try the chilli beef stirfry mmmmmm.

Green beer (too young). Pricy, rude landlady.
Chris - 26 Dec 2003 05:57
Have visited this place twice. First time I enjoyed a good pint of 'Old Tosser' despite it being a bit overpriced.
Second time, the woman behind the bar was rude and unable to do her job properly - and she was seemingly oblivious to this!?

Shalln't be going again - definitely not after finding the nearby Jolly Farmer.
Rob - 12 Sep 2003 08:29
Lovely pub full of rugby memorabilia.
