Typical old school Youngs back street boozer, good beer & friendly atmosphere. George the Parrot is very chatty! With a bookmakers opposite, much of the trade is shared between the two establishments. Jukebox can at times be a bit loud, as can be the local Chelsea fans, but that's a risk with any pub in Sutton.

What was once a very good youngs pub is now a very poor shadow of its former self.Lack of customers, its doomed.

Youngs pub with a lovely tiled frontage and what seemed like a loyal, local clientele. This was my third Youngs pub of the day and far better than the first 2 which had both been subjected to makeovers. This was an unspoiled boozer in the backstreets of Sutton and all the better for it. The Special and the Ordinary were the only ales, whilst the parrot in the corner had plenty to say for itself!

Was in here today good pint of Youngs, service very good, could do with a few more customers.

just moved to sutton so checking out the pubs all i can say is thank god there are other pubs close by staff are so rude dont even look as they want to be there one lady well say lady cant stop swearing could not take my kids there seems dirty and has a unpleasent smell and flat lager so no chance of me going back again when the other pubs are a much better

The lady behind the bar was friendly and the parrot in the cage was a nice touch. I can't say anything else nice about the place though. It wasn't unpleasant just not worth a second visit when their are nicer pubs within a few minutes walk.

I was made to feel welcome by the young lady behind the bar.
Few customers were in as it was early afternoon but they seemed friendly.
I find the Youngs beer to be good.
Good pub for a lunchtime beer.

I went in here on Saturday just to see any improvement i don't know why i bothered. This pub has got worse, the last tenant was very unfriendly, rude and did'nt care about her customers, she lost so many , now it has be given to a couple who are even worse lost the few customers that were still going in the pub , The best thing that can happen to this pub is to knock it down, the people who are trying to run it are running it more into the ground than the last woman, the place is dirty and the loos smell terrible. Young's should try and get someone in this pub who wants the job and got time for customers and will clean the place up. it was always clean and tidy with the last person.

blackdragon66 - 20 Sep 2010 21:24
Getting worse by the day. Sometimes you can see the tumble weed blowing through the bar as it is now so uncontaminated by customers.
Better atmosphere and pint in The Little Windsor
keithwalsh1 - 21 Aug 2010 12:49
One unhappy and rude landlady has left this pub who lost all her good customers because she was only interested in certain customers never had time for the spenders. Now we have got a woman i would like to say lady but i would be a liar who does not stop swearing has rude staff. What have Youngs done to this pub it is such a shame. With the new landlady the place is dirty music is so loud you cant talk to anyone ,staff rude untidy and always swearing.I will not be going back, when i go into Sutton must weekends we go to the robin hood now the nelson will not last much longer it will be another locals pub turned into flats because no one is going to go in the pub with staff like this working behind bar.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE bring back the other sister thats gone 2 ireland, she would make a brilliant landlady always smiling always makes old and new customers feel very very welcome, and you always no when it`s last orders because she rings the bell, but what have we got instead??? a miserable landlady that never smiles never welcomes her customers and as driven out more customers and staff that i can remember, if only she would put a bit of effort in to running the pub proparly it would be a great pub with a great atmosphere, such a waste.
mayfair - 18 Jan 2009 16:39
As a former regular of this pub, i found it friendly and had a great atmosphere to start with, this was three years ago. since the landlady's sister moved back to ireland the landlady has set about alienating most of the regulars, driving not one, not two, but three darts teams out of the pub due to treating them like scum. the landlady's motto is; if you dont like it, tough. the landlady always comes first and she will go for cheapness before making the pub a nice place to drink. hopefully now she has lost the privilege of having two darts teams drinking in there on an otherwise deserted wednesday night every week, she will realise what it really means to be in the service industry and sell up to someone who appreciates their customers, regulars and first time customers.

this was a good pub, i was in there alot it has gone down hill in the last two years, landlady does not care about the pub anymore or the customers ,as long as she has a drink in her hand, she needs to cheer up and talk to the customers and serve them, not leave customers at the bar and run over the betting shop.
bacardiandcoke - 10 Oct 2008 11:23
LANLADY IS AN ALCOHOLIC AND SHE IS VERY MISERABLE,FULL OF PIKEYS ON SUNDAY LUNCHTIME
vinni - 5 Oct 2008 15:42

bacardiandcoke - 23 Aug 2008 13:24
went in the pub at the weekend was busy but had to wait for a drink the manager is not the happiest person i have met she could smile a bit a show she is happy to see you as a customer and not show everything is a effot

Good honest Youngs community local in the well pubbed New Town area of Sutton. Locals are very keen on horse racing. Worth calling in if crawling in the area
JohnBonser - 28 Mar 2008 13:09
Visited over xmas and the place was rammed with great atmosphere. Staff were friendly and got served quickly despite the crush will definitely go back and check out again at a quieter time.
jester07 - 10 Jan 2007 19:48
It's Sunday afternoon, My friend rang to say that he had left one in the bin for me and that they were staying open as the rugby was on, having had a pint an hour before and knowing that he was still there I hurried down. People got served directly in front of me by the landlady, but I was told that they shut an hour before. The pub seems to be getting less user friendly since the barmaid left. I hate to think why they went into a service industry as they clearly don't like the public coming in and disturbing them!!
anonymous - 19 Nov 2006 18:16
Dear oh dear oh dear , at least you can always get a seat. Growing a beard might also help before entering. Not a typical Youngs pub by any means , no food and no atmosphere.
bionicdog - 7 Aug 2006 15:26
How can John FCC say its the worst pub in Sutton?? Surely the Butterchurn or the Dolphin must be the worst pub in Sutton??
mhartes - 7 Aug 2006 14:48
Good quality Youngs beers, friendly service. Always worth popping in for a couple, but I'm not sure about spending a whole session there.
Wilson_MacDonald - 9 Jul 2006 15:34
worst pub in sutton,no atmosphere whatsoever and regulars are all a bit strange,u want youngs go elsewhere, its not great here
JOHN.FFC - 15 Jun 2006 20:46
this pub is not bad,but like all youngs pubs no atmosphere very cold in winter and to exspensive, landlady and bar staff are like corpses
pj99 - 1 Jun 2006 16:43
nice little boozer, good pint of youngs bitter.
friendly enough.
Rigormortis - 19 Apr 2006 11:32
very friendly little boozer.
no food as such.
with old school attitudes which are hard to find in an era of cloned pub chain blandness.
stevie2005 - 24 Mar 2005 23:26

There are friendly bar staff and is the perfect place to go after work to relax and enjoy a drink.
Skinner21 - 3 Mar 2005 11:19
This pub is terible, too expensive and cold
