Open the door and you are greeted by a cold and hostile enviroment and that without any other customers inside. But perhaps the most sinister thing about the pub is the smell... blocked chimney, damp or a body under the bar? who knows.

I have visited the pub on a crawl twice in the last 3 months... on both occasions it has been a total let down. However, I alway like to see something positive in every pub and this time it has to be the quiz machine... mainly for its location close to the door allowing a taste of fresh air if anyone else happens to venture through the door.

Visited the Bull and Chain before it changed hands and have always been pleased with the good value for money food but visited it tonight since the new owners and was very unimpressed. From the moment we walked in the atmosphere was very unwelcoming. The pub was set up for a big party and there was only one other table in there when we arrived. After ordering our food we ended up waiting 35minutes for the food to arrive. My meal arrived first and then the two other meals arrived slowly afterwards.I unfortunatly had to send my burger back as it wasnt hot and was red inside and there wasnt any cheese that was meant to be with it.By the time my meal arrived back to me the other two people i was with had finished. The burger returned burnt, in ciabatta bread and not in a bun, burger chutney and still no cheese. One of the waitresses did come over and ask how it was the 2ndtime whilst the manageress stayed sat at the bar.Wont return there again.

A small pub next to a car park used by visitors to the cathedral and castle. It had 2 real ales and food was available. The lounge was split into 2 areas with the bar between. It was comfortable but it lacked atmosphere.

nice place to go for a spot of pub grub but if you hang around the bar area for to long, the "You're not from round 'ere" brigade start giving you funny looks.

Outta towner who visits with local friends and has always received a warm welcome from landord Mick and the other regulars...great food at good prices too. Try the 2 meals for 6.00 before 7pm.

Another cosy little pub (which used to do decent food) - lovely log fire in winter and a decent garden. Ideal for a top of lincoln pub crawl due to prox. of The Morning Star and The Peacock
