Had a pub meal here, reasonably priced, and friendly, helpful staff to go with it. There is plenty of room inside, and it's in a brilliant position, next to the canal. Sadly recently stopped allowing dogs. However, good beer from Wye Valley, Uley and Wadworths. Conveniently close to the Wildfowl and Wetlands trust.

This pub has a holiday resort type atmosphere, perhaps because it is adjacent a large and well maintained campsite and it has accomodation as well. The interior appears to have been extended on a number of occasions and is well lit thus it does not have an olde worlde appearance. Nevertheless, we found it to be very comfortable and well maintained and the food quality and price was very good. The beer range has been previously described, my Pig's Ear was excellent, the staff were helpful and friendly. Slimbridge Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust is a ten minute walk away

This pub seems to be nice enough from the outside and the inside. The ale and cider range was certainly impressive. But I feel it's trying a bit too hard at being all things to all men. There are many different rooms and it seems that each one is aiming at a different set of clientele - there are a mixture of locals, tourists, campers, diners, youths and ale drinkers. I'd probably class myself in the tourist, diner and ale/cider drinkers categories. But there were plenty of customers. We did eat, but were disappointed with the food. Ales on were Uley Pig's Ear & Bitter, Wadworth 6X & Palmers Dorset Gold. Ciders & perries were Moles Black Rat, Broadoak KB & Perry, Lilleys Sunset & Crazy Goat, Thatchers Heritage, Westons Country Perry & Gwynt y Ddraig Happy Daze. Certainly impressed with the ciders. But something doesn't quite work here.

Just spent an enjoyable long weekend at the Tudor Arms. Absolutely top place - excellent rooms, top notch beer, good food and friendly service. The bar was aboslutely rammed on the Friday and our tbale for dinner was in a small passage-like room, which was not too pleasant. A quiet word and that was not repeated -all done effeciently. 2 Uley beers on - both excellent particularly the stunning Pig's Ear - plus 6X and Palmer's Dorset Gold and 2 changing guest beers. Wye Valley Ginger Pride, Mole's Elmo's Fire, Sharp's Honey Gold and a Great Western beer featured during our stay. For cider drinkers there were 6 traditional ciders and perries, which were very popular.
This is a comfortable venue, and good value. The rooms have been refurbished to a high standard. I would unreservedly recommend this place to anyone. Rating of 9 - I don't do 10s!

We stayed at this pub as we were visiting the WWT at Slimbridge. The accommodation was absolutely superb. For instance the bathroom fittings were Villeroy and Boch, which are top of the range by anybody's standard. We had a well positioned flat screen tele. The bed linen was clearly very expensive and comfortable. In the the room there was an armchair and 2-seat sofa. There was a huge amount of hanging space and a large chest of drawers. There was tea and coffee making facilities plus biscuits. This room was as good as any decent city hotel. There was a a lot attention to modern health and safety with obvious fire doors fitted strategically. I defy anyone to fault the quality of the accommodation. The staff were extremely customer orientated. The food was not gourmet and not did not set out to be. It provided us with just wholesome reasonably priced pub food. The pub was buzzing with people and it clearly had a good client base. I was impressed by the cleanliness of toilets in the main pub. There ware half a dozen different areas in which to eat. We enjoyed hearty English breakfasts in the conservatory. The prices for staying there were vere very reasobale. We paid �150.00 fore 2 nights bed and breakfast. The location of the hotel on Sharpness - Gloucester canal was quite idyllic. This is a fantastic traditional, no nonsense pub and a credit to the owners and well justified of its honour given to it by CAMRA as the best pub in the county 2009

I'm sorry to say I was really disappointed with this pub. The board outside said 'Camra country pub of the year 2007/8/9' and I thought 'this is going to be good.' And the beer was fine. But the outside seating area, sheltered by glass walls, was filthy. There were loads of flies, food, dust and used serviettes on the floor, the tables were dirty. The Gents was smelly. Maybe it was an off day, but the mark of a great pub is that it doesn't have off days.

Went for lunch on a hot day. It was very busy but even so, food was BRILLIANT. Beer - what a choice! Lots of space to sit - inside and out. CLean loos. Pleaseant staff, very helpful. Couldn't be better. Took my parents. My father's comment afterwards wwas "Perfect".

Great pub and a Good Beer Guide regular for many years now, beautiful setting right by the canal (You can take your drinks up there should you wish btw) and Slimbridge WWT 1/2 a mile away. Also the pub has a small hotel & camping next to it as well.
Big refurb a year or so ago and done to a very high standard, mainly a food establishment but don't let that put you off as the beer is usually in superb condition. Usually 5/6 real ales on + Black Rat cider & either a guest cider or perry, Westons perry on draught on my recent visit which is very rare in this part of the country. If you are coming from the Bristol area it's a great combo going firstly to British pub of the year - The Old Spot Inn @ Dursley and then visiting this gem at 1/2 time before your journey back to the smoke - making sure that you havea designated driver of course because as hard as you try you will never taste all the great ales between these two pubs. :-)
