user reviews of the Kings Arms, Liverpool Street

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Nice bar, nothing flash but clean and warm with plenty of tables.
My visit was late Dec 2014.
Service was slow as the pub was busy and there was just a skeleton staff.
Southwold lager was a good pint but at £4.8 it was rather expensive.

Pub has both Sky and BT. 5 ales but not all available.
The 'Beig Ben' Burger was ok but nothing special.

Entered here last night to watch the tennis and beat/miss the train chaos. It's a lovely bar and they have a decent selection - one thing about foreign beer servers is the language barrier - whilst most will make it work for a pretty young Slovak, Carribbean lovely, Aussie flousie, French continental tottie, latino babe, Skandi dropdead, Brazilian Miss World then the short sharp retorts of an eastern block young urk take a bit off the edge of things and don't make you feel at home. He warmed up after a few rounds and sitting outside in the sun that near to Liverpool Street is an absolute pleasure. That said I wish the African Queen had of got up and replaced him behind the pumps and started serving - made the beer well tasty - I'm sure I've seen her in films?

This is a great old-fashined, non-pretentious pub, a stone's throw from Liverpool St station. As you'd expect from a proper pub, there's a good range of beer, and the bar service is generally excellent - you'll be served quickly and in turn!
Definitely a place for football watching - there are loads of big screens, and even a recent 3-D addition for when the occasion warrants.
The beer garden out back is great in the summer - nice and large, with plenty of places to rest you beer.
Downstairs is much quieter with a couple of pool tables, and a more relaxed lounge area. Unfortunately, so are the toilets, which are in need of a proper overhaul, and the only blot on this place.

A very decent place to watch football, loads of screens and busy enough to get an atmosphere. despite its location, it seems to be a pub for locals instead of city types. by no means the best pub in the area, but good enough to be included in a crawl of the area.

Has a great basement bar with two pool tables, tv and giant connect-4 (whe nthe bar maid will let you play it). Unfortunately they have a habit of not opening the actual bar downstairs so you need to shuttle up and down for drinks
Has a back garden which is to some degree secluded and prices not too high. With all that said there is something I don't quite like about the place, with that said the bar manageress is very friendly.

Can be very busy at lunch time and you will have to wait to get served; food is just so so

A pint and a fight, a great Kings Arms night. Always good for a punch-up and a flat beer. I love it.

Went in there once and it was once too often. Horrible pub and beer.

Been refurbished in the last year since I visited and has a cracking down stairs bar with a couple of pool tables. There was attentive staff and a great atmosphere..... no over pretentious city boys spoiling the atmosphere... Food was really excellent - tried some of the sharing platters and have to say will definitely come back again again!

I didn't see any obvious racists in here. Maybe there were some, but to all intents and purposes, this could be racist free. I will check it out on other nights and find out.

I drink in the Kings Arms fairly regularly and find that at lunchtimes its busy, noisy and lively (good - I don't want to sit in a library) and its cheap enough to keep the most idiotic and stuck-up of City boys away; there's still a few, but hey. In the evenings its a place to enjoy a few beers after work with a couple of mates rather than a big night out. It's unpretentious, pleasant enough, friendly and generally open as long as you need. food is good and very cheap, and the pub now has plasma screens for sports.

In the summer, the beer garden is sheltered almost entirely from the sun which may or may not appeal. And don't expect a seat out there when it's hot. But who cares? And yes, you can see the netball courts, and while we're on the subject of ladies, there's a very attractive italian/spanish looking recent addition to the bar staff.

if you want to see 2 blokes wrestling and then get challenged to an arm-wrestle this is the place for you

If you were stabbed to death with the butt end of a pool cue in this place nobody would think it out of the ordinary.... bland pub, with bland people, serving bland beer with bland music on the sound system... if you're bland this is the place for you.

A reasonable pub but all the other comments have missed out the most important fact -- from the beer garden out the back you can watch the netball courts in the summer.

A pub with a wonderful summer view :)

will they stop it with the George Michael CDs on repeat? Downstairs is no better with bloody J-Lo and Gabrielle wailing away!

Better than previous ratings suggest. Good for keen pool players downstairs and food is fair fish and chips competant and served correctly with mushy peas. For more reasonable prices I would suggest the Jeremy Bentham between Gower St and TottCtRd. (More studenty) Don't come to the City of London if you are offended by suits

The northern Bishopsgate/Liverpool St. end of the City is known among pub lovers for being a barren, desolate wasteland where a man could wander lost for hours without a decent pub in sight. The exceptions (Woodin's, Dirty Dick's, certain backstreet taverns around Spitalfields) are all east of Bishopsgate.

To the west lies evil. All bars to the west of Bishopsgate are, without exception, rank, smelly, badly decorated, inappropriately lit dens of suit-and-tied sleaze serving feeble selections of beer at Olympian prices. The King's Arms is east of Bishopsgate. That's all I need to say.

yeah its alright I suppose - very rarely does anything good happen in there. I recall a bloke taking a cack on a urinal and I accidentally set fire to a woman's hair, thats about it. Swerve the fodder, the chef looks like Jesus.

I have been a heavy drinker in the Arms for the last two years. I find the bar staff friendly and helpful. Their prices are up there with the best in the City. And their all day breakfast is to die for.

I've been drinking in the Kings Arms for 18 months now and find it very pleasant with great food and good music too.

A reasonable pub with reasonable beer and a reasonable area to drink outside. But that's it - neither bad; nor great; it's "just okay".

Oh, and beware - they lock the doors at 11 so if you're still outside consuming their drinks you have to sneak into Pizza Pomorodo next door for a whizz.

Full of city slickers in the evenings, the KA has a great atmosphere and a cheeky quiz machine. Food is good and cheap. There is also a beer garden which gets incerdibly crowded during the Summer months. It also has a fair sized pool room downstairs with separate bar. Overall a good pub to put your feet up after a hard day's work.
