Decent enough Wetherspoons - most cask ales were a bit on the strong side, but Ruddles was great value at £1.85!

I must disagree with the comments of realalerules83, if he has an objection to draft (?) he should go to a bottles only establishment. Also if beer offerings 'was' paltry surely that infers to one beer only, as opposed to beers in the plural. However you don't need good grammar to appreciate good ale and I have never had a bad pint in this pub no matter how I asked for it.

Not a bad 'spoons but as it is very close to several other real ale pubs we only had a swift one to say we had been in! As has been said - if this bar was in any other town apart from Sheffield then it would be brilliant!

Cold and uninspiring poor effort by Wetherspoons. The beer offerings was quite paltry. A never ending draft circulated at the bottom of the stairs where I sat.

Not a good start to the days proceedings.

Good standard wetherspoon pub with friendly staff.

Nice enough JDW with a decent enough choice of ales. Worth a visit I guess.

This was the first pub on our Sheffield crawl yesterday. With so many great pubs in Sheffield, we only ventured into a Wetherspoons as it was open at 11am. Beers on were Greene King IPA, Ruddles Best, Cotleigh Nutcracker, Thornbridge Kipling & Brother Rabbit, North Cotswold Shagweaver, York Pride of York and Shepherd Neame Bishop's Finger. Cider was Westons Old Rosie. The interior is modern with exposed ducts and artwork. An average Wetherspoons that could possibly the best real ale establishment in many towns around the country. But in Sheffield, it's a poor relation.

Typical Wetherspoons (I think there are 8 in Sheffield now) - and very good value for breakfast. (Much much cheaper than the optional breakfast at our hotel). Local beers were available as well as the usual suspects (Abbot/Ruddles).

Went in here on a saturday afternoon, it was busy. The staff were helpfull and the real ales very good. There is an upstairs with separate bar & a small patio area up here for smokers.
Large downstairs eating and drinking area, with modern but comfy seating. Apparently this used to be a garage, that had a bar above it, before being aquired by spoons (a bit of info for you)
All in all a nice pleasant place, well worth a visit. Close to city centre and shops and other attractions.

Agree with previous reviewer - decent range of beers (quality of some Harviestoun beer we tried really was up there with the best), reasonable food when considering the price and staff better than many other Wetherspoon pubs.

Certainly superior to the Banker's Draft down the road.

An above average Wetherspoons with good and varied beers, convenient location between the station and the city centre, food standard (but well done) and staff helpful, though I've always been there for an early lunch.

Large JDW near the City Hall. Internally it's a strange mix of industrial chic and IKEA-lite furnishings. The advertised garden terrace is spectacularly unspectacular, it's just a patio with a couple of pot plants giving way to a view of a brick wall.

There was a good range of guest ales on the go, 1.80p/p. My pint of Porter was very good, which tallies with previous comments.

Overall, not too bad at all. Worth popping in to see what's on, it's the best JDW in the city centre for my money (or 50p off vouchers).

called again last saturday for lunch.
tried the new chicken, ham & leek pie at 4.99.
the short-crust pastry was soft and nicely warmed [as opposed to the rock-hard over-microwaved stuff you can sometimes get].
the abbot was also spot on.
***
verdict:
I like this one a bit more than the other sheffield jdws. it seems to be smarter, and the cask ales always seem to be in top condition. [10 on my visit].
the staff are usually quick and helpful when they are not too rushed.
an 8 from me.

Decent enough Wetherspoons, close to the living hell that is West Street, but far enough away to avoid a lot of the muppets. Another big barn as described by reynard below but pleasant enough. Had a couple of local guest beers on alongside the regulars. I had a pint of the Acorn White Oak which was very good. Easy enough to get served even on a Saturday evening around 8.

A JDW pub off the end of division st that, by its own rather low standards, has been imaginatively decorated. There's a rather nice terrace at the back and plenty of space on both floors. The ales in offer can vary wildly in quality but, if ever in doubt I plump for a bottle of Singha, which I can't seem to find at many other Wetherspoons pubs.

This is a JD Wetherpoon pub, right in the centre of sheffield near the city hall. Its been done out in quite a modern style, with two floors and open spiral stairway. Bar on each floor.
Its like one of those "re-claimed warehouse" type buildings, with bare brick walls and exposed metal heating pipes contrasting with the big soft leather sofas. Table & chair seating for diners toward the back and upstairs.
The place is generally clean and comfortable. I expect it gets busy at weekends. Standard JDW menu. Handful of cask beers on offer, and these are usually in top condition.
staff are usually quick to serve.
