10 real ciders on hand pump, numerous others in bottles - this has to be the best cider pub in the north west. Can someone else name a better one? For non-cider drinkers, still a very good selection of 5 ales via hand pump.

Previously comments about it being dead are true, but I'm guessing they went in the evening during the week. This place is mainly for lunchtimes for nearby office workers, when it will be busy. Very cheap lunchtime meals (3.50 main course).

If you like cider, you have got to give this place a try

Recently revamped pub, a 15 minute walk from the town centre and on the banks of a young River Mersey. It's pretty open plan inside, with a bar area and 2 separate, spacious lounges. However, the main reason to come is for the beer, as it has raised its' game and can now be counted among the many excellent pubs of Stockport. 6 handpumps dispensing guest ales from around the country and, as reported, a number of ciders. Had Saltaire Elderflower Ale which was very good. Seemed to be doing a brisk trade on a Saturday afternoon. Cheap pub grub also served- a toastie for 2 is excellent value. Definitely worth a visit, can be connected to a crawl of the Crown and the Pinapple

Put onto this pub by an apple head in the Crown. I could immediatly see why, about a dozen ciders on tap, some of them very dangerous. Good selection of hand pulls and a decent pint served. Very young landlord with ambition, just what the pub trade needs. I wish him well.

Paid our first visit since the new owners took over. Good selection of well kept beers on offer from a row of about seven handpumps. In addition 10 ciders / perries on offer. Also a blackboard advertised a selection of bottled world beers. Prices reasonable and staff / landlord friendly. Food is served and there is occasional live entertainment. Worth the few minutes walk out of town.

This pub has just reopened after being closed for two years. Very warm friendly welcome and large range of real ales and real ciders at a decent price. Larger is also cheap at Two pounds a pint.

Meals being introduced slowly and a jazz musician plays on a monday night. A welcome boost to stockport pub life
