Large venue that has been refurbished as a rather soul-less family pub/restaurant. Lots of ubiquitous bare wood, down-lighting, black-shirted staff and brown leather sofas. Had a couple of ales on draught: nothing very exciting but in reasonable condition. Polite and efficient service. I was passing by on a country walk, and it was raining, so I went in. As a pub: it's not worth going out of your way to visit. Might be OK as an inoffensive and unsurprising venue for the family.

Great specials list. Really enjoyed the pie of the day. Went with my wife, and was a great place. Not too busy, not too quiet. A great atmosphere to talk and enjoy ourselves. Awesome wine selection, as ever, and the range of beers is so much better than the average pub.
The waiter was polite and had an amusing humour, fair play to him.
The spit roast chicken and thyme risotto wasn't the best, but I guess that's just to personal preference.
My wife and I will defiantly be returning at some point in the near future for another meal.
Thanks again

An okay pub if you want a meal and don't want to think about it very much. Average beers and average food: nothing to get excited about. For the size of the place (large) they have arranged the tables very poorly so that you feel you have to keep moving your chair for people sitting behind you to have enough space, which then means you don't have enough space. Some of the staff are very unsmiling. Not overly child-friendly and they won't heat baby food (even shop-bought unopened).

Appalling food - hope Trading Standards dont go in...'spit' roasted = fried/roasted, fillets = fillet. Poor value for money, overbearing antipodean waitress, didnt know food or wine.
Great place for drink and meeting friends, nice decor...

DON'T go here to eat if you're vegetarian. Despite our waiter checking with the chef that my choice of meal was as vegetarian as it appeared on the menu, it nonetheless contained pieces of shellfish (NOT included in the dish description on the menu!) Disgusting. Feeble apologies.

I'm with insekt! [see review below]. Yet another pub that has been gutted and filled with veneered flooring and leather seats, plus an identikit dining area. Soulless.

i think this place is grat for a date but not for familys. The ceaser salad is fantastic and the wine range is huge its pricey but i think the staff need to be a bit quicker and possibly smile. But its nice for a first date if you split the bill lol

Great range of food, stylishly presented, tasty and large portions. Good value. Can be busy, but service always prompt and friendly. A real favourite.

My wife, daughter and myself had a first class Sunday lunch at The Old Bulls Head today. This was the second time that we have visited the place recently and we have found the food to be very good, the service quick, and prices reasonable if on the higher side of average. Highly recommended

Horribly refurbished into an atmosphere-free uber-pub/restaurant. Badly kept ale, poor range, food dire; seems to please the 4x4 brigade, though. There's a surprise.

Went with family including grandson. Not child friendly as no child portions or menu available. Not value for money and had to pay extra for vegatables which were not very nice. Had two couses (starter and main). Service was so so slow that if we had ordered sweet and coffee we would possibly be there until closing time! Not recommeded.

Me and three family members visited the bulls head and we did not like the meal and did not think it was value for money..
The service was very poor and unfriendly and we all stated that there are better places to eat..
I would not recommend to go there..and as i wrote a very detailed letter to the manager complaining about the meal it would of been nice and more professional to of received a reply as unfortunetely i did not..
not a very happy customer,will not return..sorry..

Meals v.good but drink service a little on the slow side posibly due to the bar staff being quite young.

if you arent here to eat then you must be Local - Bulls head is absolutely packed to the rafters on a sunday lunch. nice place to dine, but no real atmosphere. there are much better country pubs around.
