I wonder if that ne'er-do-well, roving, rambling Frank, and his neighbour Ken, of bowls fame, ever look in here?

I'm sure most Gt. Longstonians know whom I mean :)

Popped in here after a Sunday evening walk in the area with our dog. Immediately made to feel welcome by landlord who recommended the Robinsons Double Hop which was genuinely outstanding. Cosy main bar with handful of friendly locals and plenty of excellent food to choose from if you were eating.

Pleasant atmosphere, although the decor is a bit contrived with all the jugs and mugs on the ceiling. Expensive food and drink. Bland tasting Robinsons ale for sale. Yet another Peak District tourist haunt following the formula of surviving off the elderly car tourists who aren't short of cash. Plenty of pubs doing that - nothing different here then.

This is the more traditional village pub of the two in Great Longstone. I tend to be a summer visitor, it's in walking/cycling distance from home, so I called in for refreshments one evening last week mid bike ride.

Made most welcome by the landlord who resumed a conversation from 10 months ago as if I'd been in there the night before!

Beerwise it's a Robinsons house, with three maybe four offerings from the Stockport based outfit. Now Robinsons is one of those breweries, some swear by them, some swear at them. But at least here there is a choice and they are all kept in good nick.

I would go as far as to venture that you will not find a better pint of Robinsons served anywhere!

Foodwise an extensive menu with lots of satisfied looking diners, didn't eat myself.

A very friendly pub, four of us were made to feel like locals. Good atmosphere, good food at good prices.

I live in London and have a friend who lives near by but every time I visit I feel like a regular! One of the most welcoming pubs I have ever been to! I will always go out of my way to visit this pub when ever I am in that part of the country! Hats of to the owner!

Very quiet when I went in on Monday night. I think it is more of a food pub but they do a reasonable pint of Robinsons.
