This pub is going to be great. Once past the frosty glass we were greeted by friendly staff and a couple of nicely chilled pints. We spent the next hour having a chat with the barman and the owner who revealed their forthcoming plans for a 150k refurbishment in May/June. But don't wait til then as the pub needs the custom to pay the bills in the meantime (i'm not the manager just a local resident that wants a friendly local boozer) and it will be worth it given the ambitious management and desire to provide a warm welcoming local community pub. Go on give it a go-I promise you won't get a frosty reception!

I visited this pub with a friend last night, given confidence after reading the recent positive comments since the new mgt came in Oct/Nov 07. Ignore the frosted glass! (it will be gone soon anyway) - it is now a place where you can walk in and get a friendly welcome and feel comfortable, sipping a decent beer and having a chat. OK it is quite quiet at the moment, and this is understandable, people having been put off by it's past reputation. Word needs to get around - and that is why i'm posting this comment. The new mgt have all the right ideas and have exciting plans but it will only work with the support of local residents. Potentially it has the makings of a great, traditional pub, and one that can provide a sense of community. It will take a few months to get it up to where it should be / where the mgt want it, but it needs customers now, otherwise it could fail...and the land be sold for development, which would be very sad. Get down there! I'm going back soon and taking a few more people with me.

This pub is such an improvement on what it was. The new owners obviously have a clue and have worked their nuts off dragging it out of the hole it was in. The food is excellent with a great atmosphere to boot. A local we can finally be proud of.

I went to the Plough & Harrow last night for a meal and had an absolutely fantastic meal. The pub is under New Management and long may they stay. The food was fantastic. I had a good old English favourite of Bangers & Mash and it was delicous, so much so my plate went back empty! The bar staff are friendly and attentive. I would highly recommend a visit to the Plough & Harrow

After a couple of traumatic months and two changes of management, the P&H is now open and looking forward to a great future ahead as the local, family pub it always was.
A popular restraunteur has taken over the catering and is offering a great, extensive menu. The guys running the bar are no novices and keep their cask conditioned ales perfectly - currently Youngs and Bombardier.
The (overloud) juke box is due to go and the place is spotlessly clean. The pool table is still there.
Certainly now a place where ladies can feel comfortable on their own and families and local dog walkers are more than welcomed.
Give it a go, a local will only survive with local support.

The pub will be reopening soon and we will be attempting to return it to its former glory. As anybody who knows the pub now, this is going to take some time, so please bear with us as we try to turn it back into the family pub it once was.

Now closed. Apparently "Dave" the nightmare owner left owing money to everyone including the Brewery 60k. Where will all the druggies go now?

The place is a complete tip, nothing like it was when Michael and Helen Paine ran it. Full of chavs and kids running about everywhere, one of those pubs where everyone looks at you when you walk in, like a cowboy film and oh yes, full of cowboys. Possibly been raided by now.

Went there yesterday at 4 in the afternoon with my mum and brother.Very loud music on.Barman very friendly and quick to change my mums off half pint of stella. An indian restaurant adjoins the pub and all their staff were in the other side of the pub playing pool.
For the area it had pretty 'rough' looking people in, and is completly unrecognizable as the great pub it once was.....shame
