Now re-opened as The Outlook once again, following refurbishment. The smells of fresh paint and new carpets abound! Also new is a bank of six handpumps that feature Greene King IPA, two Greene King guest beers and three guests from other breweries: Dark Star, Everards and Timothy Taylors when I visited.

Has just closed down for a refurb. Reopening as The Outlook again on the 28th August. Will have 6 real ales on, so can't wait!

Good location for a pub. Unfortunately it's a vinegar shop.

Once a fine establishment, like its near-by competitor, but has now gone downhill since the employment of rude, un-educated staff and management. Shall not be returning here until some work is done on the lack of customer service skills.

I remember when this was the "Shop of the Bridge" (c1960) which specialized in old electrical goods ... including pre-war "candlestick" telephones at 30 shillings each! Actually, it's a good spot for a pub, overlooking the confluence of two branches of the Kennet. Despite three incarnations in the last ten years, it's kept its atmosphere and still does a good lunch. I'm not in Reading often these days, but I usually call in when I am.

A refub of the old Outlook (and Hogshead before that).

It's pretty nice in here now, more of a bar/lounge than previous. Nice views at the far end over the canal. Huge area downstairs that seldom has anyone in it.

Ale choice is Ruddles County and GK IPA, lightly sparklerised. No problems so far with getting them taken off on request. Prices reasonable.

Usually populated with the after-work crowd during the week, get s a lot busier at weekend evenings.

Not bad - a safe choice for a post-work drink.
