Bad news - permission has now been granted for conversion to flats. Apparently nobody wanted the place as a pub and the neighbours complained about it (a) as a pub and (b) as a derelict building so it has now gone for good!!

Thats great news mcroyal, i was actually born in this great boozer back in 1969 when my grandparents were the licencees - Eric and Eileen Darnborough.
I remember them running the pub when customers came in for a drink and a sandwich at lunch time and just having a good time in the evening's........

A fantastic building that should never be converted to flats - it has far too much character

Good news - the council refused planning permission for this pub to be converted to flats,so it is up for grabs as a local boozer. All we need now is a brewer to take it on and make it a proper pub again - no yobbish behaviour/no machines/no loud music - real ale and basic pub grub; pub games and a great atmosphere - simples!!

Closed and has an application for conversion to flats.

It can't still be closed, surely?

I lived round the corner for a year and this was the best little boozer ever, and had the best guvnor in the world (Roz, obviously). I live far away now but miss it still.

This pub used to be great when Ros had it then it started to go down hill and get a bad rep. I don't think this pub is open at the moment but i would like it to be taken over by someone who enjoys running a cosy backstreet boozer and likes to interact with the regulars. The pub really did have the best people drinking in there and i really miss the laughs we all used to have. Bring back the good old days thats what i say!

A pub that's in the news for all the wrong reasons, sadly.

No ale, and rather run-down.

Did get a free can of Tanzanian lager when I ventured in last summer, so it can't all be bad?
