A lovely pub/restaurant to spend a couple of hours in, leafing through a newspaper, enjoying a chat etc. A central bar serves a number of rooms and alcoves, with dining and drinking throughout.

As well as a character of the pub we found great local real ale. Guest beers coming from local breweries as well as further afield, including Caledonian Deuchars IPA and
Weetwood Eastgate Ale.

Pleasant and enjoyable.

Used this pub several times for 'work' dinners with customers, great food and wow pint of Weetwood. Nice inside and out and look forward to visiting again. Nice and easy to get to too - right on the A49 - 30 mins from Wem and 10 mins from Winsford

Food pub by the side of the busy A49. Not a drinker's pub but some fine real ales with it, it's large and spacious but not characterless- similar to the Brunning & Price pubs for anyone familiar with those. Maps and pictures adorn the walls in the many rooms, and the beer garden is large and most pleasant.
Food excellent ,and Weetwood ales dominated on my visit, with Cheshire Cat and Eastgate ale both in fine form, along with a guest from Holdens- also excellent.
Not quite a gastropub as it's unpretentious and reasonably traditional, but not really a drinkers place- the Alvanley Arms down the road is more traditional. That said, if you want good beer and good food, I recommend it here.

Must visit this pub now that I have been tipped off by frankedwards comment below that it is noisy child unfriendly. You see the thing is that it is a pub, not a creche for badly behaved children which others have to put up with. Hope to visit soon.

Excellent food spoilt by the poor attitude of the owner. He used to be the landlord at the Grosvenor Arms in Aldford and we knew that he had a bad reputation but hoped that getting his own pub would improve things - sadly no, and we won't be returning.

Very good standard of food. Well presented and in good surroundings. The only negative point I would say is that they are not sensitive to the needs of young families. My toddler who was a little noisy was made to feel unwelcome. This is a pub better suited to grownups rather than being a family pub. That said the food was of very high quality.
