It's been a while! Metropolis is back open and once again it's a great place to have a beer. It's now under new ownership and management. The doorman stops any idiots getting in so it's a good crowd.

Due to recent storm damage to the roof of our building and subsequent interior problems, Metropolis will be closed until further notice. While Metropolis is closed, we’ve decided to take this opportunity to refurbish the bar. The works will take a number of weeks to complete and we look forward to reopening later this year. We’ll contact you again with details of when Metropolis will be open for business and look forward to seeing you soon.

....email I received from the Metropolis Bar today...

I was drinking in the bar last Friday night. Once again a great laugh and atmosphere, and despite being full of blokes all having a laugh and a drink, absolutely no hassle at all. I admit this is not one for delicate gentle little lambs but there's plenty of them in the rest of Bromley if that's what you want.

I use this little bar quite often. I don't think the people commenting before me are getting the vibe. The DJ has a wicked sense of humour and can be quite dry. So what if he swore, how old are you? This is a great little bar and it's nice to be able to go somewhere in Bromley that avoids loads of silly little pissed teenagers.

Presumably a front for money laundering. Sure as hell isn't somewhere you'd go for a drink or entertainment.

I will never go here again. My friends and I didn't get the chance to sing and when I queried this the DJ was incredibly rude and aggressive. I don't like being sworn at. I left in disgust and will certianly never return.

A drinking associate and i have tried the Ivory Lounge on a number of occasions since it opened only a few months ago.

it is a very modern and stylish bar. the layout is very different from the previous Henry's Bar with the bar being in a different location. The bar has a very relaxed but mature atmosphere. on all the times i have been there there hasn't been any bouncers or any dress code imposed. however i haven't been there at the weekend. to be honest the mature atmosphere gives the impression that the customer is able to make their own mind up to what they wear which is a breath of fresh air in a place like this. it also suggests that their isn't any trouble here.

it's amusing to hear that the Ivory Lounge in Bexlyheath has a very draconian dress and entry policy. i wonder why? the places seem worlds apart.

Also the bar has some very impressive out door pavement seating which will be great in the summer evenings. it gives the place a more continental feel.

on the down side the bar can get a bit crowded so it can take a while to get served. if you are into ale then this place will disappoint, Guinness is the closest you will get.

This is the smartest bar in Bromley but with a very laid back atmosphere for such a new venue.
