Wandered into this Shepherd & Neame pub just before 7.30pm on Bank Holiday Sunday night and it was only about a quarter full.

The band had stopped at 7pm so we missed them.

Being a Sheps pub the cask range was Whitstable Bay and Master Brew with Stout on keg. Bottles of Bishops Finger and East India Pale Ale were also available.

The interior is open plan with stripped wooden flooring and some exposed brick work. There are the obligatory hops hanging above the bar.

Friendly bar maid that was quick and attentive once she had spotted us.

Music playing at a soft and manageable level.

All in all a decent back street pub

Popped in for a couple of pints early evening Sunday 6/5. fairly qiet, but reasonably friendly. Came back later to see the live band - wow what a difference!
Packed out, good band and still friendly service. Really enjoyable.

New bright new landlady has revitalized the pub a bit and ushered in a bit more variety on the music front on Fridays and weekends. Beer and lagers okay if you like what they sell. Wine selection not bad. Can be a very tight squeeze on a music night.

Highly recommended. A strong local crowd but if you make the effort so will they. Beer very good too.

Great music and atmosphere Friday and Saturdays, generally. Good beer, especially when Bishops Finger on draught. Good to visit during Folk Week early in August, place really is buzzing those days.

Can be intimidating place. Noisy and poor quality beer

Not a particularly friendly welcome from the barman/landlord on my last visit. Only Masterbrew was on offer ale wise so not exactly a beer drinkers paradise either. Just pretty average really.
