Reopened. Unless I was dreaming.

Good beer and friendly service. Charming layout.

Only odd thing was that people were coming into look around and be fascinated at things in the building that are very standard features in some of my elderly relatives' flats. Maybe I should organise some tours and charge a bit of money?

After a recommendation from my usual haunt (O'neill's in Wimbledon - thanks Mark!) I decided to venture forth up to Balham Bowls Club (BBC) slightly nervous and not knowing quite what to expect. My nerves were quickly settled on arrival after being greeted by the delectable Amy, (the apron was mighty fetching). Her expertise and knowledge of the drinks was second to none and despite being full to the rafters she was always on call with the next tipple, (whatever that might be). The "free" sausage roll was a perfect absorber of my particular favourite the 'grolsch' (thanks Amy).

The night was only marred by the toilets, which were abominable.

Good beers, very cool decor and I think the staff are pretty good actually.
Balham, though, is slowly getting as impatient and high maintenance as Clapham. With so many good bars thou should all be much more content.

No it must be said, the service is pretty woefull

but otherwise this is a great place in Balham

Wow having to wait a whole 15 minutes to get served on a packed Saturday night! Sorry but you have very high standards. The staff have always been great to me (especially the French girl with the dark hair).

Also they've started doign Sunday roasts which are flipping fantastic and must be tried.

The staff are a problem in this place. They seem to take ages to serve you - quarter of an hour for some beers on a Saturday night is out of order. Memo to manager, who is said to be a great "craic": either hire some mroe staff or get some who can move a bit quicker or can prioritise - restacking glasses at peak serving time on a Saturday night is not a good idea. Finding some who can smile would be a bonus too.

Probably the best pub in Balham. Good beers, good food, great staff. Fantastic unique furnishings add to what is a brilliant pub. This place is highly recomended.

Idiosyncratic, the front room is like sitting in your grandmother's lounge, the front bar is like a big nook, the bit round the side past the toilets is just tables and chairs and comfy stuff and there are great big pool tables out the back. The sausage rolls are to die for and there are tables out the front. Good staff, good Guinness.

great pub with lovely staff - manager was great craic actually making an effort to start conversation and all other staff were good fun.

the landlord (beer) is good but not sure if the pump is set up right as it seems to take about eight drags on the pump to get a pint!

also its not cheap - but where is nowadays!
