As per the previous review, this pub has re-opened as the New Inn. It was my second stop of a tour of East Sussex following the Three Legs Brewery Tap in Brede (not listed on BITE). It seems to be more of a restaurant than a pub, with most of the inside dedicated to diners and many of those outside on the rear patio also dining. There is a small bar area and there were also some drinkers outside. It was quite light and airy indoors. The house beer is New Inn House Brew from Long Man. There are also 3 guest beers, which were Battle NE IPA, Pig & Porter Pale & Greene King Yardbird.

I can't praise the staff of this pub enough. I took a party of 30 hungry and thirsty walkers to it this last Saturday; admittedly I had phoned up to give a day or so's advance warning, but they were happy to let those who had bought their own sandwiches eat them in the garden and eat, while those who ordered food (about 20 all told) got good honest pub grub quickly and without fuss, despite their being suddenly run off their feet. Beer and service excellent: 10/10.

great pub,the locals do hog the bar but are friendly, and Andy the landlord knows his beers. They have a festival once a year, food good and cheap, not too exciting but served quickly. Not the best interior but its being improved slowly all the time.Visit this one.

Visited here on Saturday, 3 real ales on, Harvey's plus 2 guest beers. Thought the pub was decent enough but lacked atmosphere some background music wouldnt go a miss here.
Landlord took the time to welcome us and have a chat about his beers which deserves an extra mark, Bar Billiards and a lovely roasting fire were also a plus point here well worth the visit if in the village.
Also check out the vintage dart scorer by the dart board never seen one of these ever before.

A very good pub, has a feel of being a hub of the community and obviously takes pride in selection and quality of real ales on offer. Food pretty good value for money, also bar billiard table.

Scoring highly on Beer in the Evening, this is somewhere Ive wanted to visit for a while. But its yet another of those pubs that Ive been driving past for years, and will continue to keep driving past in future.

The ale selection was good, with two beers Ive never heard of before, but the food wasnt anything special.
The place was very much for the locals. The pub was not at all busy, but the locals were all at the bar and made sure that no one else could get to the bar. Quite plain that they don't want anyone else there. Their loss, really.
I'll be generous and give it 6/10 - average.

Very friendly village local with two bars as well as outdoor seating. The beer was excellent (Harvey's Sussex Best plus 2 others) and the food was superb and excellent value for money. The pub is both dog-friendly and children-friendly.

A real ale connoiseur's dream. Friendly local with extremely well-kept beer (Harvey's best and 2 others that are constantly changing). Landlord an authority on real ale, good value snacks and the wine for the ladies is not bad either.
