I'm a mother of two (5 and 9) and went to the pub 2 weeks ago for a family lunch. The food was wonderful, espically as the children ate free.. The outside area was really good for my youngest as well. Me and my husband also went to the pub a few weeks ago to watch live music. There was a good atmosphere in the pub and all of the staff were friendly on both occasions. I will definatly be going back! Susan Johnson.

To avoid confusion; The Cricketers, Meopham Green, is not 'another pub nearby' (see above); it's The Long Hop under its old name.
Unless it's improved by a quantum leap since I was last there, its present rating, under either name, is ludicrously high - but of course it may have done so.

I am a local / regular who has found the food and service at The Long Hop fantastic. Since the refurbishment has taken place, it has become one of the best social places to go in Meopham. The staff are helpful and friendly and the service is second to none. The atmosphere has a nice warm buzz to it and seems to suit people of all ages.
*** For the person who hasn't got the guts to leave a name and doesn't know what 'the long hop' means, s/he should take into consideration that the low ceiling in the lounge bar is due to that part of the pub being over 200 years old!! ***

10 out 10? Come on, lets take the rose tinted glasses off shall we? For mine it was better as the crickets! at least the name made sense... Its currently in danger of trying to be all things to all men, when in actual fact - its probably better off letting the youth sod off over the road to the Kings Arms and letting the people that are not looking for a 10 pin bowling alley (the recent roller disco lights in the bar) have somewhere to get a decent drink and bit to eat. The saloon bar has a low ceiling so anyone over six foot is going to struggle, while the recent renovations seem to have removed the focus from the open log fire (big mistake for mine) and shifted it to the night time roller disco clientel. I give the pub a 7, as generally its a nice pub. The food is VERY! hit and miss mind you... and that 7 score could very much go either way
