It's a poisoned chalice, this location. Now it seems they've made it pretty much members-only which is a bit strange. Glad to see the back of it tbh.

And then, three days later, it was. So random.

Okay, pretty convinced it's shut down now - hasn't been seen open for ages by me.

I've still yet to go in - those blue lights put me off - but I was amazed to see the place shut at 7:45 on a Saturday evening as I went past on the bus.

If it wasn't for the posters proclaiming I could watch the World Cup here, I would have sworn it had shut down. Even now I'm not so sure.

Random opening hours and no mistake.

Odd place, great if you like blue lights, like giant versions of those insect trap lights. Seems to be closed randomly. Very generous 3 a beer 'special offer' :-0

Became "Broadway and Dragon". Then it closed. Now it's "House Bar" - a "South African" joint (if by South African you mean eerie blue lights.)

This pub is terrible in more ways than one.
Firstly it stank of sewage and it seems the staff keep trotting out the excuses but nothing is done about it.
Secondly the service was poor, we were tutted at when asking for a wine cooler, the service was slow, and it wasn't that busy, and they take your drinks before you finish them.
The last point was the worst. We were there for well over an hour and one person went to the toilet leaving their glass where it had been for the previous 80 minutes. She came back and they had taken it away. They then refused to give her another drink and still refused when we wanted to speak to the manager.

We left soon after never to return again.

I had high hopes for the Drift, but ended up leaving very unhappily.
Firstly, the place smelt like sewerage. When we brought this up with the waitress she just said something non-committal and slouched off. When a friend of mine went up to the bar to buy a drink for herself the barman demanded ID, which she produced. Unsatisfied with this he then insisted that all 15 people in our party produce IDs (no one was younger than 23) just so she could buy a drink. This was early in the evening and the staff obviously believed that they could do without our business, but we will definitely not be returning anytime soon.

Overall this is a good bar. A good selection of drinks, nice decor, not too busy etc. Food is better than average but by no means amazing- more good bar food than good restaurant standard. (quantity is a bit tight though!).
The two bad points. Firstly there is a bit of a funny smell in there. A memeber of staff did say that the drains sometimes smell! It isnt too bad though, just noticable at first. Secondly, they do not run tabs. So if you need to pay on card you have to do so on every visit to the bar. This is really enoying and makes no sense to me.

Oh yes. What a transformation indeed. I was there on Saturday making my way slowly throuogh the cocktail list - what a list. And the music that they were playing was fab.
Highly enjoyable - shame that they don't stay open longer though. I would much prefer staying there than traipsing to the Shed down the road.

Are we glad Jim thompson has gone? Oh yes, me a five of the girlies went to DRIFT last night, there is a wicked singer there, didnt grab his name, but apparently he is there every Tuesday, you must go. Whilst eating delicious fish and chips listening to a talented singer was fab.
Try this place it really has transformed.

Wow, Wow, Wow!!! What a transformation, JT'S has gone, only to be replace with something rather more sexy, oh yes!! DJ was wicked on Saturday after having dinner in the rather up market restaurant, although very reasonably priced delicious food. Whilst I tucked in to my juicy steak my partner tucked in to a great Thai Green Curry still cooked by the famous thai wok chef's I do believe. The staff were falling over themselves to help you, and it was a fantastic night, we have booked again for tomorrow... Thanks to all those involved
