Another of Ricmond pubs under new management since my last break up here. Two ales Black Sheep and Tim Taylors. Plumbed for TT and not that bad. Looks like two dinning areas downstairs and am led to believe a restaurant upstairs. Dog friendly bar side.

Sad that many Richmond Yorks pubs seem to have slid downhill and lost confidence in what makes a good local - great beers, hospitality, good service and friendly welcome. It's not asking much and this place had it in spades. Now rather mediocre. What's worse, is there's not much better within walking distance. What has it come to when a Wetherspoons, up the road, is the best around for beer and at least something of a warm welcome. Pass the Prozac.

We stayed here in early February and thought it was a thorough let down! The only food we had was the Sunday roast lunch as they don't serve food on Sunday evenings, but this was decidedly average for 8.95. The accomomodation was poor and the virtually unheated room - the owner apparently only has the heating on between 4 pm and 8 pm even on cold days like when we visited - was lacking any comforts with a sloping mattress, rotting window frame and several lights not working. The atmosphere overall was not welcoming excepting the lady who served our quite tasty breakfast. Oh, and the beer was okay!

Black Sheep, Cornish Tribute, but TT Landlord out. Ordered Tribute, very nice. Arrived 14/09/2011 -14:25 (5 minutes before food shutdown but welcomed to order and glad we did). The steak + pie arrived within 15 minutes and was stupendous. Meat/pastry ratio 4/1! Promise to bring my nephew for this, that good! Staff friendly and accommodating. Dire Straits in the background delighted my colleague, no way obtrusive. I have rated 8 for not having TT Landlord but would I then have tried the Cornish Tribute? While digesting you can ruminate on which plant to buy from the shop across the street! Will be back.

Dull and uninspired, but does at least offer a couple of cask ales.

Nice pub. Average beers though better than most in Richmond.

One of the few pubs in this wonderful town, that seemed to be making an effort. Black Sheep, Brains Rev. James and John Smiths available on hand pump, and locally sourced pub meals. Barmaid unphased and very welcoming when 11 walkers came in requiring meals and refreshment.
