No draught beer so not worth staying. Stella OK but pricey. Often busy although I struggle to see why!!

Plastic pub selling extortionately priced drinks and catering to the more money than sense brigade. No draft bitter. Surprisingly good food - if overpriced, so worth a visit of you want a meal, but best avoided otherwise.

A not particularly convincing restaurant / bar the top of Harrow-On-The-Hill. It was deathly quiet on a Sunday afternoon when I visited; I'd have thought it should be pretty busy at a time like that. The bar snacks we ordered were quite nice, but if you're after a decent pint, forget it: a couple of lagers are the only draft items here.

I have lived on the hill for 4 years now and have been to cafe cafe on a number of occasions; I must say that after my experience today I will not be returning.

The first time I went there I was happy to see that they had tables out side; I am a dog owner and it's sometimes nice to grab a drink on the way home. I have done this occasionally over the 4 year period with no problems; in fact I was there last week. Today my wife and I went there for a quick drink with my dog and all seemed well. I ordered the drinks at the bar; I went out to get my wallet which I left out side. A few second later a woman from the bar came out and aggressively told us we would have to leave as dogs are not allowed around the tables. I asked her is this a new rule as we have been there with the dog on a number of occasions. She said "well I haven't seen you here before and I am the manager so you have to go - or you can tie your dog up to the lamp post and have your drinks". Luckily I had not paid for the drinks and I told her to forget it and left.

The point here is noting to do with my dog being allowed to sit outside with me its to do with the management.
If there is a policy in place then you would expect it to be consistent and all employees to be aware of it. Apart from today we have never been challenged in 4 years. In fact the members of staff have often petted my dog. I was surprised that this person was the manager as her manner and attitude was so rude aggressive. I do hope that she is new and doesn't last too long there as I fear that she will damage custom. I wish I knew her boss as I would very much like to tell them of my experience, any help with this would be much appreciated.

I went recently on a friday and have not been for a few months as we work abroad quite often. Not the same! Andrew(the previous manager), i was told had left earlier this year. Much to the dissapointment of my partner and myself as it was him who had always looked after us on many occasion. The change in management is obvious. There was no greeting, no goodbye and no atmosphere (the bar atmosphere was what we normally went for). I wont knock the food,it tasted great. But it was plonked in front of us with no cutlery or condiments. We would normally sit at the bar and be entertained, no matter how busy, and service was always great, instead we found ourselves waiting for at least five minutes whilst the bartenders stood talking at one end of the bar. We did eventually have a conversation with one of them, just to be told that they were bored and cant wait for the night to be over!! And to top it all we were rushed out the door at the end of the night. We were really looking forward to our first friday back in the uk, unfortunatley we were extremely dissapointed. Typicall example of bad management as this was once my all time favourite bar!

Alex 'The Boss' runs Cafe Cafe as a top restaurant should be run. Top service, great food and an atmosphere to match. Will be ther next week ..... again

After my recent vist to Cafe Cafe, as always I found the food excellent and the service prompt, efficient and friedly. What was most noticable was the usual over crowding in the bar area had been eliminated due to the new extension which has recently opened into a fabulous new bar next door. This is connected to Cafe Cafe which means that the atmosphere from the restaurant follows through but it is much more relaxed. To our surprise there was a basement bar which had DJ facilities. We subsequently have booked this for my next birthday. I would reccommend this for anyone. It is fantastic, go and see.

Really enjoyed it here, went for my partners birthday. food is awesome and so are the cocktails(they have a whole page dedicated to chocolate!!genius!!). The atmosphere on the friday night was brilliant, So much fun. I didnt get any snottyness from the staff in the dinning area, I hardly noticed them, they sat us down, took our orders and brought us our food, just what we wanted. We left knowing the names of all the staff behind the bar, they really made my partners night. I go to alot of places through my job, there is a difference in service between all the other restaurants on the hill, dont expect traditional fine dinning style service because its not that sort of place. The quality of what you get there is fantastic, hats off to the chef and the bar manager. we almost didnt go because of the reviews. They are definately doing something right because we are going back there tonight!!

This place is ok on ocassion but as they all say the staff are snotty, erika, the assistant manger i think she is, is a lovley girl great at her job, the rest are just snotty and stuck up like the others say
lovinit - 13 Jan 2007 13:39
Full of stockbrokers, talking about money they don't have... all living in sin with their flexible friend! and if i have to hear about one more person working in the city...i'm going to kill myself!!! The staff are rude and snotty.

I love the food and because it is good i can manage to bring myself there just once a month. The reason i don't go very often now is because of the staff and service. It is such a shame because having read the reviews on this place it seems the major complaint is staffing issues. They are purely there for decoration only, why bother with that we come to eat not to ogle.
I live so close by it would be ideal for me so we go every weekend to The Old Etonian down the road. This is how service should be although food is not as good but great atmosphere and you are made to feel welcome.
Come on Cafe get your priorities right.

Great atmosphere, mixed crowd, funky tunes, fresh muddled cocktails, bar and restaurant menu available, great sofas and wine for a girls night out

The food here is fantastic and everyone enjoyed there mea The staff were so helpful and polite despite us making some unusual requests. Worth a visit you won't be sorry.

Its allways nice to feel wanted and the cafe has a most cosy yet formal feel to it. Well WORTH A VISIT

GO GO GO GO .What a fantastic bar.Wonderfull food and very sexy staff.
DR fox - 5 Oct 2004 11:10
Having eaten at some of the best
restaurants in town i am dismayed to find the CAFE with no formal rating. These so called Michalin star Chefs would benifit from a few days working under Head Chef Jonathan Dome` and his team of Chefs.Classical English/French throught out and executed with unique style. A hidden Diamond.

Lord Brockett - 5 Oct 2004 11:06
whatever you say about the cafe, you have to know about food to say its actually value for money. where else can you go in the west of london and get fantastic food like the cafe? hats off to the chef who works his socks off, hes always busy and always does a great job, if you cant see cafe for what it is- which is NOT a pub then go to wetherspoons!
louise - 27 Sep 2004 18:07
Ive been there loads of times, living nearby, and Ive always had a good time. The cocktails are brilliant and the bar staff seem to enjoy making them (and they dont use ready-mixes). I dont understand the below comments about bad service: Ive always had good friendly service from them. The food is quite pricy, but good. Caf Caf, the Castle and the White Horse are the only decent places to go in Harrow (and theyre all close together) but this place has the distinction of being the only bar / caf / restaurant (as opposed to pub). Recommended, but does get busy on weekends.

Excellent food, if expensive. The service is excellent and the staff friendly, there can be a wait at the bar if its busy as some of the cocktails take a while to make.

Overall one of my favourite places to spend an evening in Harrow.
Christopher Turner - 19 Sep 2004 13:17
The cafe itself is good. The food is very good but pricy, great for birthdays etc. Nice for a midweek drink where you can sit outside and people watch, too busy on Friday and Saturday nights.
The staff are rude and all have attitude problems which is a shame. Some completely ignore you at the bar!!. All in all a nice place
Clare - 29 Jul 2004 14:31
Good food and drink but APPALLING service. Staff gave the impression that they were there for decoration only, and whenever asked a question eg "Can I see a menu please?" or "Do you have a drinks list?" their response was "We don't do table service, you have to go to the bar." When I asked one member of staff for the bill, another member of staff came over to our table, not with the bill, but simply to repeat the mantra "We don't do table service, you have to go to the bar." Had the place been busy, I would have been more understanding, but between 6pm and 8pm on a Sunday evening they had only 3 of the restaurant tables were occupied. I will never go back, even though the food is good.

Lovely, scrumptious food.
anonymous - 19 Nov 2003 15:24
this is a bar/restaurant rather than a pub. Definitely worth a visit for the Cocktails.

dallas - 5 Sep 2003 15:50
This is not a pub, it's a cafe - as its name suggests.

Quite nice on weekdays. Had a meal and a bottle of wine with a friend and sat outside and remarked on how attractive the Hill is, especially in comparison with the rest of Harrow. Other than 'The Castle' this is the only decent place to have a drink in the whole of Harrow (which is a bloody tragedy).
Meister - 4 Aug 2003 17:35
The food is pricey but sitting by the open doors on a sunny day with a drink is lovely. Bar staff are pretty and polite. It does get very busy and crowded at weekends though.
Buddy - 16 Jul 2003 10:24
V expensive but not worth it
anonymous - 1 Jul 2003 13:32
The food is great, but incredibly expensive - we paid 70 for 2 main courses plus stuningly average bottle of wine the last time we went. It's lively and fun, though, so go for drinks and meeting people - just eat somewhere else!
Philippa - 26 Jun 2003 14:59
V. expensive food, buth the cocktails are fantastic!!!
