Not sure what's happened here. I can only assume there has been some sort of fallout with the Brewery/Manager. Visited yesterday and there was no draught beer or mixers - bottled stuff only for both. There's obviously some sort of renovation going on but the staff had "no idea" how long until it's completed. What was once a thriving restaurant was also pretty much empty though that's not really surprising given the lack of beer !
Whatever's happened, I hope they sort it out soon. It used to be a decent pub.

Not as good as the George but would happily pass time there. Food was good too.

A while has passed since my last visit. I've knocked my rating from 8/10 down to 5/10. Food & beer excellent, but I wasn't impressed with the landlord's attitude. Customers got in the way of his conversation with his mates, and he made it plain that he wasn't going to give up talking to his mates to serve those who pay for the priviliedge of going to his pub.

This pub is a credit to the area. The food is always well cooked and presented, reasonable cost. The menu is changed regularly and is usually varied, very friendly staff and swift service, ut it does get busy so book at popular times.

This place has really come on in recent years - I think due to a couple of changes of management.
Split into a proper bar with a huge open fire (very nice in winter) and a restaurant that serves generous portions of very good food.
Also has a nice garden for the summer months and serves a nice pint if you like Shephard Neame (which I do, generally).
Recommended.

What is it with Shepherd Neame pubs? They seem to share a bad reputation, but are in my experience clean, friendly, smart places serving excellent food and beer.
OK, they generally only serve Shepherd Neame ales, but they all have a choice of at least three ales (and good ones at that).
The Bull is no exception - friendly service, good food which is cooked (not microwaved), good beer - Id certainly go back there.

We stayed at a B&B just down the road from the Bull. The B&B Customer Comments was full of good reviews of the pub. It was fully booked on the Saturday evening so we ate there on the Sunday. The food was very good and also good Shepherd Neame beers available.
