I can't imagine that the man eating a smart meal with his wife here was all that impressed with the landlady's conversation with two local yobs at the bar. One if not both couldn't manage a sentence without the word 'f***ing' in it at least once and landlady seemed not in the least concerned. The diner's wife gave him a very 'why did you bring me here' look. By the way, they have some very nice f***ing wine at f***ing £28 a bottle if you feel like calling in.

Drove quite a long way to visit the Stags Head on the evening of Wed 21/1/15. It was closed. Went to the Foresters instead which wasn't.

A great pub which was serving Cotleigh's Owlzatt! and Exmoor Ale. We sat at the top of the long inclined beer garden in a couple of reclining chairs enjoying the sun. The restaurant looked as if it was worth trying.

My other half Spent alot of his Childhood in Dunster, and we frequently visit with our infant daughter, We always make a point of at least three or four visits during a weeks stay at this great pub, the service, the food (very well priced) any sweet tooth should try the toffee apple crumble, Hubby loves the well kept ale, all i ask for is a larger wine selection, bar that..... a very friendly and well run gem!!

Had a good meal here accompanied by several Exmoor Ales all top notch.
Bar staff responded well to our un-booked request for a table, small bar table was fine. Food as said was good and service to match. More foody than ale house but good overall impression. We will be back.

Very busy when we called due to an overflow from a wedding at the Castle! I had a a Cotleigh beer which was ok but wifey had Exmoor which had that farty smell of unclean pipes or "off" beer. We were led to believe it was a good place for food but perhaps they should pay more attention to the quality of the beer.

Having seen the rave review below, I ventured into this pub on a soggy June evening. They serve a damned good pint (Cotleigh, Exmoor) and the service is good too. A good old fashioned pub. Worth a visit if you're in the area...
