Monday night, all drinks 1. A student institution!
I miss this place on a weekly basis...
|
Dire place - even when it's empty you can't get served and the tables are full of crap. Even students deserve better.
|
Shockingly grim. Aims squarely for the student market - if that's not you then you really should go over the road to the Pack Horse or Eldon.
|
Ye Gods - they spend a fortune converting this magnificent old building into a pub... and then they can't be bothered to serve any real ale! Only the chilled lagers, etc, are available. The wonderful architecture, reeking of history, deserves better.

Nice pub, good food. Its all cheap and that is surely what its all about when you are a student!!! the deals are good, pool table too. er... just remember to get a yellow card, these pubs are everywhere.

the library has no soul or atmosphere apart from that brought by the dreg ends of the otley run - and believe me this leaves a lot to be desired. it feels lofty and has a school canteen feel about it, good for cheap shots if you plan to move on quickly.

"No attempt has been made on the inside to let you know this was once a library"
Unsurprisingly, no attempt has been made to let you know this used was once the Feast And Firkin.
Many a Sunday afternoon was whiled away in this pub drinking Dogbolter (brewed on-site!) watching the football and playing drunken pool in the room upstairs waiting for the Sunday evening pub quiz.
It was a shame when the Firkin shut. Only ever went in The Library once - never again. Should have left it alone...

Part of the 'It's a Scream' chain, and not as characterful as its counterpart down the road, the 'Dry Dock', the Library forms another link in the Otley Run.
No attempt has been made on the inside to let you know this was once a library, and the wacky colours of the Scream pubs abound. Where the dry dock wears it well, it only just fits for the Library. However, the drinks are quite cheap, there are guest beers occasionally, and you can get on with the food pretty well too (although the Dry Dock cooks it better).
Mainly frequented by students (Engineering is next door), and a few lecturers (often from Psychology it would seem), you can pretty much guess the atmosphere - and it can get pretty crowded later on. It's not bad, but there are better nearby.
