Visited again recently, is it me or is this place getting quieter?? The beer was awful I must admit. Maybe that has something to do with its seemingly decline.

Strange place, doesn't know if it's a pub or a restaurant. Recently refurbished but I think it's totally 'out of keeping' (that's just my opinion of course!). Tried the Doom Bar (seems to be the only real ale available in these parts) and it wasn't in the best condition. There are better pubs in the area.

Busy on a sunny, Saturday lunchtime but the service was quick and efficient.

Three ales on - Otter Amber, Swift One and London Pride - and all very reasonably priced. The food menu is not extensive but focuses on straightforward pub food which is a welcome change.

Well worth a visit

Was very surprised to see a lack of customers this afternoon on my visit. The beer choice was good (Amber Otter, Swift One and London Pride) and the barman/landlord was very welcoming and polite. Recommended.

This is a friendly local with a log fire in the cosy bar and a large restaurant at the back.
Usually three or four well-kept real ales on the handpumps, maybe including the local Itchen Valley Godfather and a couple of guest beers.
The blackboard food menu includes baguettes and pub favourites like cod and chips, as well as more substantial meals and Sunday roasts. Choices are a bit limited, and The Swan doesn't pretend to be a gastro-pub, but this is decent home cooking with something to suit most tastes.
In summer, pick a table in the small front garden and watch the world go by.

Great pub. Shame about the food!
