Current name is "Goldies" named after the wine, spirit, ale & porter merchants that used to be here over 100 years ago. In some ways, it still feels like a small shop with a bar rather than a pub. The room to the left has a modern stone floor whereas the room to the right is bare-boarded and more like a working man's club. My Ringwood Best was average; Hobgoblin Gold, Youngs London Special and Courage Directors made up the range of national beers. Landlord was constantly busy, collecting glasses, tidying up etc. which I thought was a good sign.

Friendly place with a good selection of beers. It was fairly crowded when we visited at around 6.30 on a Friday. Turns out that this is 'happy hour' and they hold a free meat draw at 7!

A lot quieter after 7 as many people seemed to be there just for the draw and then went home.

A nice pub and good beer - our favourite in Dorchester, from the few we visited.

Nipped in for a quick pint on the way past. Much improved since my last visit. Excellent range of beers. My pint of hobgoblin was first rate. Keep it up!

Decent, in a slightly rundown kind of way. Housed in a vast and beautiful building which stretches out far with some kind of former barn contraption out back. The (Marston's) beer was pretty clean.

Could do with turning its music down but ok. No idea why the waste loads of sittinmg space with a indoor skittles pitch?

Popped in for a quick pint recently..first visit for several years. Friendly staff but no beer! Dregs of a barrel of Ringwood but that's all. Pity as the place looked cleaner and more up together than it has for years.

Concur with Notebook. Popped in on Saturday evening to see if the recent hype was justified. Early days, but good friendly service and a nice pint of Jennings Sneck Lifter - a nice touch that it was from the cask too.

Borough, Blue Raddle and Tom Brown's in such close proximity make for a decent mini-crawl at the bottom end of Dorchester High Street now. Good news!

this pub is being turned back into its former glory, it has just been taken over by new landlords ( june 09 ) and what a great job they are doing, its clean and back to the well kept beer of old. live music on fridays and a disco on saturdays, its good to be going back in here and having a good time once again. keep it up..

Oh dear, this once pleasant and historic little pub has become a dreadful dive, when the management can be bothered to open it, that is. Badly kept beer and surly foul-mouthed yoof now seem to be the norm, and the pub company seems to be letting the building go to rack and ruin. Best avoid for now, and hope for better times ahead.

This pub has recently been taken over by a new landlady. It is now very clean with smoking facilitys, a good menu and lots of live music. There has also never really been any trouble there. No more than any other pub in town anyway.

OK place but the fag smoke in the small bar was as thick as a traditional London smog.

A proper traditional pub and please keep it that way. A few words of advice though, locals always call it Goldies and never go in there if Arsenal lose.(You will find out why if you do and you won't like it)

OK pub but there is the chance that you might see the odd bit of trouble late Saturdays

Recently refurbished and the difference is noticable. Looks very smart from outside but has still retained its character in the tiny main bar where you will find a colourful character or two.
