please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

I'd saved the Glengower until last, as I was expecting a decent cider selection and it was the closest drinking establishment to our B & B. Whilst I rated the Ship & Castle as the best pub in the town centre, the Glengower is the best pub near the seafront. There's little to choose between them. The Ship & Castle had the slightly better ale selection and felt more like a pub. The Glengower is a seafront hotel that has converted its downstairs rooms to a bar with a view. The ale selection was almost on a par with the Ship & Castle and the cider selection was the best in town. Ales are to the left of the bar as you walk in. Ciders are to the right and also on handpulls. The selection was Purple Moose Dark Side of the Moose, Wye Valley Butty Bach & HPA, Salopian Shropshire Gold, Mantle Rock Steady, Lilleys Lemon and Lime & Bee Sting Perry & Gwynt y Ddraig Ancient Warrior, Farmhouse Scrumpy & Happy Daze. There is plenty of seating and TVs were showing live international football. Food was still being served, despite it being late in the evening. I later discovered they should offer a CAMRA discount. But you obviously have to be in the know. Still a really good bar though.

Great pub to sit in and watch the sea. Couple of beers on, nice atmosphere, usually quite quiet unless there's a big game on or its quiz night. Closes quite early.

Beer selection still decent - and I'll forgive them about the sparklers (which seem to be taking over Aber pubs like a cancer now) I just get them taken off.

Otherwise, still far far to big for its current incarnation, GET THE DISCO BACK IN!!!

Cant believe the change in the place its really surprised me.
I visited over easter and the weather was amazing. The decking out the front makes u feel like your practically sitting on the beach, with chilled out music and a great atmosphere.
The selection of lagers and ales is good too, its not the usual stuff you find everywhere else. Kronembourg and san miguel on draught instead of Carling and carlsburg. The Theakstons Best and Deuchars im told are both good too.

But the thing that impressed me the most apart from watching dolphin playing in the surf, was the selction of whiskies they had they must of had 30 or so. irish, scotish, welsh and a load of bourbons as well.

recommend it to anyone

nice pub, good pint if you like your lager. couple of pool tables, juke box, itbox, good screens for the football. lacks a bit of atmosphere, but all in all a good pub, with some nice food.

This place used to be the heart and soul of the local student population. Had more instances of cash back here than the local supermarket. Spent a couple of New Years Eve's here and they rocked.

Excellent music, good spacious dancefloor and they gave away free T-Shirts. Top Banana in my book.

Pity that they got rid of their late licence and has turned into a bit of blue rinse pub. Excellent food though.

Transformed from sticky-floored student 'plub' to wannabe gastropub.

Three real ales on tap (Everards Sunchaser, Deuchars and Theakstons), but use of sparkler on the pump made a mess of what should have been a nice pint.

Food served tastes fine, though portion sizes are variable. Also has a penchant for playing fairly inappropriate music when you're trying to eat (rap?!? whose gonna eat here, 50 Ceri?) No Sunday roast either despite being open on a Sunday which is pretty dumb.

Has potential, but really needs to up it's game.
