Certainly the best pub in Castle Cary, but then again there isn't much competition here.

The pub has a few small seating area's and a lovely fireplace in the front bar.

Good selection of drinks at not rip off prices.

Would visit again. 8/10

Sadly very disappointed and out of pocket. We provisionally booked rooms for out wedding guests, we were then told these rooms had been booked by our guests, when we questioned who had booked we were told a name not on our guest list, so were confused. We were told again that they were booked when we questioned this, so we made other arrangements for our guests. Then the night of the party they called the mother of the groom at 1.15am to ask where the guests were. The owner could be heard in the background saying it will all get charged to you credit card anyway. When we approached the company and owner about it they said they were only trying to make a living and they would look into it. We have received no contact or compensation for the fact that our guests had to find other accomodation and we were charged the full price for the rooms 220 without any discussion. You have been warned.

B & B will cost you about 40 a night here, but its probably worth it after a few flagons of Abbot ale! A neat little secondary 'no-smoking' bar is hidden around the corner, and could be missed by some patrons. When next in Castle Cary, do have a lookin! TJ

Very friendly service from the staff here and a good rapport with the locals and non-locals was evident. A Greene King Pub,So I Opted 4 a pint of Abbot which was very good. 8/10

Looks a bit like an old pub from the front, and I've been informed that it was indeed an old Coaching Inn, dating back to 15th Century. Now mainly hotel, but there is a small bar (seating maybe 20 people) and an even smaller 'no-smoking' bar further back, where people can have meals at tables in less smokey atmosphere. Nice for families, olduns, and youngens alike! Rooms available in yard at rear of pub look good, and apparently cater for dog owners (useful to know). TJ
